One of the reasons I am so pro bitcoin is self custody. You can write whatever you want in legalese and have it approved by whatever governments or agencies you’d like, but it still wouldn’t give you access to the bitcoin I self custody. I feel like fighting bills with bills is ineffective when we already have this transcendental ability to self custody. #permissionless
At the moment, the Government could seize a person’s legally acquired bitcoin if the UTXO itself had, for example, previously been used in sanctions evasion or touched a darknet market; regardless of whether its owner was aware of the coin’s history when obtaining it.
This law will fix this.
