What would zapscribing look like from a UI/UX point of view? One of the challenges I run into with accounts like Flash is that they post so often that I have to unfollow them to bring sanity to my feed. So even if they’re posting interesting info, I don’t have tools in my app to manage how that info is delivered in my feed. It’s all or nothing, and with an account that posts a lot I default to choosing “nothing” just for my own sanity.

Just brainstorming out loud. Subscriptions of some sort would be awesome. Whether that includes bonus content or just an automatic payment every month.

You don’t have to follow flash to get value from him. A lot of news posts don’t necessarily feel zappable, but it’s obviously valuable.

And yes, You have the tools to make a news feed with accounts like flash or war monitor without following them using primal. You know this 🧐

I actually didn't know this. Took me a while to find it. Can I add multiple people to a single/custom feed?

Ya I’ll make a screen recording now.

Unfortunately **+ you cannot edit a list once you make them in primal.

Would be ideal to make a news feed on following.space and update there.

Wish we had the ability to create/edit follow packs directly in Primal. #wishlist

Create, edit, & possibly even share = my wishlist.

tldr: just zap liberally, repost or comment on any individual note from anyone. any note any post you found funny, laughed from, felt good from, found helpful or found interesting.

this idea you’re presenting perhaps encourages slop.

the news feeder is basically an influencer, working for attention bc they want zaps (even if its “news”).

in any case, is every post quickly selected by the news feeder actually newsworthy, not full of bs, lies or propaganda…?

would prefer when things come up organically.

like…so n so person i tend to like a lot, admire, or respect posts something bc they think everyone should see it. this kind of content would tend to be higher quality stuff too bc someone has their interest/expertise area where they find something interesting and have the ability to have deemed it not full of shit/propaganda.

…someone i don’t know on nostr that posts something thats bubbled up to me from someone i do follow, etc etc

people should “subscribe” or zap liberally to any ~note~ they enjoyed, laughed from, had some fun with, found interesting, etc.

even if the growth is slow, i hope nostr finds a new, better way forward…that is orders of magnitude better than the old ways of doing things.

…imho lol 🤗

I agree some form of subscriptions would be good. And you’re right I could make a custom feed for news related accounts. I guess I was picturing something more along the lines of a dedicated or more streamlined flow in the UI to do this. Like if I could go to someone’s profile and add/remove them from a feed without following them. Or from the creator side, if I could make some content available to subscribers first/exclusively/etc. Zapping Flash and other creators on a v4v basis, and creating custom feeds, is possible now, of course, but streamlining the process/flow for both creators and users is what would take it all to the next level in terms of user friendliness.

ya there's a lot to figure out. we definitely need to have an edit button for the feeds we already have.

That would be very useful.

This is where support for browsing specific relays comes in handy (like Jumble).

If this was a widely supported thing across apps, someone like Flash could run their own relay (fee to read if desired) and could curate news items to it.

This keeps peoples "main feed" clean, but still allows access to a stream of news items when they desire.
