A Dark Road
Speeding through space, my heavy eyes fall shut
Springing open in fear, thinking: staying awake means safety
There is no safety except the safety held between your hands
You soldier through the night, gripping the wheel
You protect us both as the road roars beneath us, the moon hides above us
Carrying a load so heavy, yet you let me sleep even though I fight it
You drive, we laugh, I sleep
You get us home safely
