playful energy out there, even if there is a heaviness in the air. remember the reason for the season beyond jesus is to find your own light, to light the lights, to dig within for a spark - and fan it into a flame. it is your responsibility to not let your inner spark die. sometimes in the darkest hours, we must crawl to our self and remember our own divinity. if you cannot show others how you do this, how do we expect others to do the same. when it is dark and one soul lights the lights - everyone else is reminded they too can do the same. do not forget. no matter how much bones and misappropriation corrupts the meaning of hanukkah and the season - you are required to light your own light. put it in the window to inspire others to boldly do the same. do not diminish. the simplicity of hanukkah arrives with the message of ritual but no fanfare. like the blood on the door during passover, jews proudly and simply declare their spark is alive and well, even in times of darkness. i am who i am. today is playful because there is play in standing alone in your truth in the face of everything pretend - you become untouchable but also interesting. revision is not the point. simplicity requires you to strip away that which is not you - to reinspire yourself. violence against the genuine is nothing new. when they shoot at you: you know you hit a nerve. go ahead. shoot. and my candles will shine every night - and if i am struck, remembrance is a powerful tool. be careful whom you martyr. and be careful what tools you invoke to manufacture sympathy... you have an automatic weapon, i have a beeswax candle and a match: we are not the same. i have a newspaper, you have a megaphone and an agenda. we are not the same. as it should be.
