Created for less than $10,000, this is still my favorite hard Sci-Fi time travel movie ever. It helps to have a touch of autism to decode the time loops, so it's probably a good fit if you're on Nostr.

This is a movie where, at the end, I wanted to meet the creators & shake their hands.

Definitely recommend, if time travel scifi is up your alley.

Between this and eXistenZ, I think we have very similar tastes in science fiction. 👽

Primer is easily misread as just a "puzzle box" of head-spinning time loops... Actually, the way I read it is more of a horror story of opening Pandora's box.

Two young men make a discovery that destroys their lives and then, as the final shot implies, the rest of the world. And somehow they know from the start that it couldn't go any other way...

I need to watch Primer again, it's been a while. I've got a free night tomorrow, I think I'll put it on the list. It's good to rewatch because I notice something I haven't before every time.

Don't be annoyed when I ask for reminder of name in 2 weeks or so. Fountain seems like the one to check out first

The Fountain is more approachable for sure. A mind bender, but it is still a Hollywood movie.

Primer is pure mind fuck 😂 For the first bit it is very sterile, boring almost. But when it starts going it's really good.

If you watch either one though, you will be left with questions once it ends. My favorite kind of movie.

Had a feeling primer, on that budget, had to be more purely writing driven and prolly harder watch.

Made me think of that low budget movie where someone has dinner party and one guest jumps into parallel version of themselves... can't recall

Oh, you ever watch Devs? Been a while but was kind of a sleeper show

Sounds interesting, I'll have to check it out. On the list it goes...

Primers cinematography is fine. There are no special effects really. You are correct though, the story is where it shines. The dialogue is great, and you'll be questioning what is happening the entire time, and afterwards. It's a good one to rewatch, I notice little things every time. So many little hints and secrets hidden in the movie that you would never realize on the first viewing.

Sold

Haven't seen this in ages, it's got great rewatch value.

So many little hints & secrets on a rewatch 👍

It's amazing what they accomplished with $10K, when a lot of sci-fi movies can't pull it off with $200M budgets.
