You can choose to be unnecessarily offended by this statement, or you can realize that one of the biggest differences of Nostr is the user-centric economic dynamics created by the protocol’s design. The incentives here for users/consumers, artists/creators, businesses, and app developers are different than legacy social media. That’s why so many are here in the first place. Zaps are crucial to nostr’s future. Getting offended just means you’re probably a cheap ass and don’t like feeling called out.

🫂 Anyone creating serious content here right now is in it for the long haul if they stay 😂 But when good content DOES cross our feed we ought to be zapping it more than a couple sats if we enjoyed it. That’s going to look different for each person as for what they enjoy. Some will love podcasts, some music, etc. But there’s a reason people, even bitcoiners, are still mostly creating their content for other social networks instead of nostr.

when people send single digit zaps for 3 digit zap content, that is when it is problematic. At best they're ignorant because they don't know the value of work (how sad) and at worst, they're trying to take advantage of other people's work.

Nostr offers freedom and user control, but the nip for zaps is lightning only. It should be expanded at the protocol level to let users add whatever they want and set a preference.
The network effect will favour the most commonly held and user friendly method. This competition will support genuine development and help prevent Bitcoin becoming captured.
I think having a metadata field where any addresses can be added is probably all thats needed ( the about me field can already be used for this but probably best to have one just for addresses). Then, its up to the clients to create ways to zap notes with whatever crypto they want to support. That is how a few clients have successfully integrated xmr zaps.
Yes, it's so easy I can't fathom why it hasn't been implemented. Instead we have competing clients just so people can zap in monero.
