I don't think this is a chicken or egg issue. People aren't going to pay you more unless they have a reason to. Production must always come before consumption. I have no reason to send big zaps if I never see great content. The responsibility starts with the creator if he wants zaps.

Corn, it was a joke. I do exactly what I'm capable of. Zaps won't make me any smarter or more talented. I take bad pictures with a bad phone and I put them here and on Olas. This is the only way I can help this community. I also zap and spread the word, but I'm here to learn about Bitcoin, not to become an influencer.
So I will not zap you 1 sat for this very low-value content, to not encourage you doing more.

Low-value people put out low-value content. High-value people produce their best regardless and produce something else if the money isn't enough for them.

No one goes out and gives a bunch of money to someone who hasn't first created something of high value. Just creating low value products until someone gives you more money is economically retarded and will never work. Good luck with that position if that's what you're trying to say here.

Yes, based on a track record of being able to produce the thing. I'm not paying someone for a master piece of who never painted a masterpiece.

Yes I agree to an extent. The problem with that argument however is that there IS some really good content on nostr. By and large people are just stingy with their sats.
To get an idea and make it concrete, can you give some examples of underzapped content and maybe what you would expect this content to receive in total or per person in zaps?
I understand that this is mostly a personal opinion because what might be valuable to me can be worthless for you but it's good to manage expectations i think.

People will put in effort where they see they are being rewarded, or where they see a good likelihood of it being rewarded, such as if they see their peers being adequately rewarded. Getting a few measly 1 or 2-digit zaps on content, or seeing that’s what others are getting, provides absolutely zero incentive to keep making content here.

When I say “low-value” I’m referring more to the quality, as in content that took little time and effort. Copy/pasted or crossposted from other platforms, maybe not even someone’s own original content, AI slop, etc.

The “responsibility”, if I can say it that way, for good content being on nostr lies with both the artists/creators and the “audience” that exists here. Artists need to create good content and foster community and interactions with people that enjoy their content. On the flip side, the people that enjoy their content need to reciprocate and give them incentive to keep creating here. Otherwise it’s a waste of their time and the skill/craft they’ve spent years developing. At best, nostr will get the sloppy seconds and lack of attention.
