In the early hours of January 3, the United States reportedly carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela. According to the President, Nicolás Maduro was captured and flown out of the country, with CBS reporting that Delta Force conducted the operation. As of 5:00 a.m. ET, this is what is known so far:

I think the military didn't fight since they couldn't win. If the US just removes the president, there is a transition and everyone in the military gets to keep their jobs. Self preservation talks.

It also happened to Hugo Chavez. New York Times jumped the news and reported Chavez was ousted in coup.

However, Chavez was able to convince the soldiers sent to get him to support him instead.

This time America sent their own soldiers to make sure it happens.
