Yellow rose of Texas starting to bloom
Shout out to Nostradamus + George Orwell- y’all really went off on predicting the future 🔮
my dog basquiat being the angel he is this morning 🖤
Everything covered in hay has been seeded with a mix of native grasses like black + chino grama, sideoats, buffalo, sanddrop seed as well as wildflowers like indian blanket, mexican hat, greenthread, praire coneflower, and primrose - all species native to the chihuahuan desert. Things are starting to grow which is pretty exciting even though only about 20% of what we seeded will germinate - it’s only the beginning. Hopefully this will be a beautiful flowering meadow and sanctuary for wildlife in the near future.
It was misty all day today which is perfect weather to burn these nonnative grass species we have been removing from the ranch since the autumn of 2022. This process has been very gratifying- we will use the ash as fertilizer + mulch on the native grasses + flora we have already seeded.
think about land restoration. soil. dance history. hopi ceremonies. ancestral trade routes. rainwater harvesting. biodiversity corridors. grassland carbon sequestration. botany. bird migration season. creating space + time for future generations.
Chisos (our band) had our first show of this year last night. This was the fourth show we have performed live and it was probably the best yet. I didn’t expect many people to come out because it was after midnight and a cold front blew in last night but they did and I was nervous- I am still not totally comfortable singing in front of a crowd. Often people assume i am an extrovert but i am more introverted and have a lot of anxiety expressing my thoughts and feelings because it’s hard to articulate and uncomfortable to express in certain situations, but music has been a great way for me to transform my ideas into lyrics and songs which are dedicated to the land, our culture, and our history. I don’t sing because I want attention I sing because there is somethings I feel I need to say and music makes the delivery a little softer and magical.
Anyways last night was great. I am exhausted (in the best way) and now I have to go to work and then do a dj set from 2-6pm…art and music is my work and I am so grateful. I hope to use this platform as an archive for the different projects I am working on- this is one of them.
They just spotted another one in wales a few days ago? There was one that appeared in Utah in 2020?
I need more information on these mysterious monoliths
I don't even know what to say about Texas at this point smfh.
Big clown energy over here 🤡
been wanting a bubble machine for my sets and a homie (who didn't know that) just brought me one- love it when things work out like that 🫧
