Folks are incentivised to create rage and even if a community exits that to you or I are down with, we’re encouraged to amplify the views of people we dislike. Amplifying folks like Farage emboldens the type of bellends we see targeting mosques and little indie shop keepers.

I dunno, the UK’s been in a shit place for a minute now. Long decline post WW1 with blips of uptrend in the 60s and late 80s-90s.

I do one day a week with a Youth Charity and we’ve seen this issue close up. There’s some very complicated issues at play here and this kids going through them are in a dark place indeed. Any sign of difference as a teenager can be brutal in terms of bullying etc.

I’m not an expert in these matters by any means but the media version of the issue is very different to what I see in real life.

Resources are stretched to fuck these days.

See that’s where I have a problem with this, some cases seem to be made out to epic proportions but it’s mostly hearsay.

I’m not saying there aren’t edge cases but there are also people looking to make political capital out of kids lives.

If there’s a credible source by all means share it. I think the trans thing has been blown up to epic proportions, particularly on social media. It really is great for engagement, regardless of position… So long as the position is extreme.

I think kids should be protected too. They are very much capable of making poor life choices and they should also be protected from those wanting to make political capital from what can be a very difficult time in life to navigate.

A lot of young people struggle with identity, that’s a huge part of growing up. Some kids will make lousy decisions. Others though will be in therapy in their 40s saying they always knew they were different.

There’s two sides to this coin and kids wellbeing should be at the top of everyone’s consideration.

Apartheid is apartheid, no matter which state is doing it.

The position of US and UK politicians on this is disgusting. Anything for a free lunch.
