After working in a German bank for 10 years, I left my old life behind and cycled in May 2004 on a touring bike from my hometown, Heilbronn, across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and into the desert of Sinai, where I found myself suddenly in Africa. Continuing to ride south, and after 2 years in total, I met my very good French friend and now business partner, Elder Lourenco, in the capital of Mozambique, Maputo. We took on this great adventure together and built Miti Miwiri on Ibo Island out of the ruins of a colonial mansion, opening by the end of 2008.
