I’ve run my own Mastodon instance. And do run some other activitypub stuff too still.
It’s a pain in the ass to host / maintain. The biggest issue it does not scale at all and when you start to interact your infrastructure does get DDOSed when your engagement grows with the network.

Yesterday I was tinkering again with Novia (https://github.com/teamnovia/novia by nostr:npub1q65yzpwr56crkm34xasnq7mtkmqx9ngyxpyy7hz99w7hduccdezsf9alu6), a tool to archive video's from several sources (only YouTube for the moment).
I downloaded to following video's and published them on the nosto.re Blossom server.

Nostr should be the simplest, most sovereign way to run an online store: just a phone, no server, no payment processor, no 3rd party accounts. With Cashu, even checkout works offline. No dependency chains, no failure cascades, no loading spinners.
But for e-commerce to be safe, we need encrypted DMs with forward secrecy. Without double ratchet or MLS, a compromised Nostr key leaks all past / future customer messages: orders, addresses, identities.
Secure DMs and groups don’t need network effects. Push notifications keep users coming back. Great way to grow Nostr.
Nostr can be like Signal, but better: No phone number or 3rd party account needed. Communicate over any relays, any clients, even offline over wifi or bluetooth. No central gatekeepers. Just keys.

2. RUNSTR - v0.2.0-alpha
Runstr is a decentralized running app on Nostr, giving users full control over their data. Although v0.2.1-alpha is the latest update it has just some small updates. So in here just focus about v0.2.0 update which include improves Amber login permissions and the Dashboard with accurate split formatting, pace in miles/km, and a mini music player, plus adds elevation tracking. The Runstr Feed (formerly Run Club) now supports likes and reposts, while Stats (formerly History) includes a calorie burn tracker and health profile input. Wavlake introduces continuous music playback and an improved track list. The Wallet now allows changing the default zap amount and adds a RUNSTR donation button.
