EPOCH:
The Bitcoin epochs, also known as mining epochs, are defined by the Bitcoin halving events which occur approximately every four years or after every 210,000 blocks mined. Here are the dates of the Bitcoin epochs based on the halving events:
Epoch 1 began with the Genesis Block on January 3, 2009, and ended with the first halving on November 28, 2012. The block reward was 50 BTC.
Epoch 2 started after the first halving and continued until the second halving on July 9, 2016. The block reward was reduced to 25 BTC.
Epoch 3 ran from the second halving until the third halving on May 11, 2020. The block reward was further reduced to 12.5 BTC.
Epoch 4 began after the third halving and ended with the fourth halving on April 20, 2024. The block reward during this epoch was 6.25 BTC.
Epoch 5 started after the fourth halving, and it will continue until the next halving expected around March 26, 2028. The current block reward is 3.125 BTC.
