Is web3 still a thing? In a room with several hundred people seemingly enthralled with the concept. I don’t get it.

Asking for a friend.

It's only a matter if time when machines and processes will begin to natively transact with one another. No banks needed, outside of government reach.

I just proved this possibility by adding a binary executable to my os. Machine to machine payments will be as ubiquitous as curl.

#nostr safebox from the command line. Running as a binary in an Ubuntu instance. I can see safebox becoming like curl for sending and receiving sats from anywhere to anyone!

The EU will try to regulate physics.

Once again, pinching myself on the freakish progress I've been making on #nostr #safebox.

Today, I got a QR code working from the terminal command line app and I managed to compile standalone binaries for both Mac and Ubuntu.

With the binary, I deposited sats via the QR code and sent the sats via Lightning with these simple commands

---

$ safebox deposit 21

$ safebox pay 21 creampanther1@primal.net

----

I managed to compile standalone binaries for both Mac and Linux. Give me the weekend to test and I will post to GitHub.

How retro is that? Generating a QR in a ssh terminal command line app.

In the interest of driving innovation in China, they’ve issued “waivers” and “exemptions”

Interesting approach to governance…

From the South China (Hong Kong) Morning Post today:

It mentioned the term “three exempts” – exempting well-meaning officials who make mistakes due to lack of experience; exempting officials who make mistakes in experiments, especially those in new domains without clear restrictions; and exempting officials who inadvertently err when promoting development.

“The fact that this ‘responsibility and punishment waiver’ is reaffirmed at Thursday’s Politburo meeting, at which Beijing issued the most urgent call-out to fire up economic growth, is significant,” said a political scientist with Peking University who declined to be named as they were not authorised to speak to non-state media.

Fascinating to see in the mainstream world of digital identity and digital wallets, they are now realizing that they need to integrate payments with identity. Especially in the EU, they are beginning that discussion as they are literally panicking that Apple/Google/Samsung are eating up the market and now the EU is trying to create certified national alternatives.

As well, the digital credential vendors are discovering that there is little to no market for their software and services, and worse, no viable business model. So they are introducing concepts like ‘credential monetization’ in the hopes of generating a revenue stream.

Meanwhile, over here on #nostr, we have proofs and payments baked in a core capabilities of the network (signed events, lightning zaps). Everything being built here on #nostr seems like a new frontier, instead of pushing the envelope on old and tired legacy models.
