Daggerfall unity is the only way to play it, the original game is broken as shit, and hard to run on DOSbox
Yup a true RPG, something Todd used to make, like Daggerfall.
It's not like Skyrim. In Skyrim if you physically hit a mob, you do damage. In Morrowind when you swing your weapon, the game does a "dice roll" to see if your skill is high enough to hit.
So higher weapon skill, higher hit change.
Morrowind is very beloved by so many, but it's rough getting in to as a new player. The first thing that is going to smack you in the face is the slow ass walk speed, and the clunky combat.
