When we were in New Zealand and Samoa everytime we used our credit card to pay we had to pay like a 1.9% fee. Which makes total sense, why should the business pay for that for your convenience? Why is it the other way around in the US where businesses just eat the credit card processing fees?
"Touch grass? In West Texas, that’s a trap! Our ‘grass’ is a minefield of Bur Clover, Field Sandbur, Lawn Burweed, Khaki Weed, and the evil Goat Head. One step on those spiky terrors—especially the Goat Head—and your sole (yep, foot pun) will regret it."
Charlie Robison wrote a song along these lines called "You're not the best"
If you had an imaginary wife, wouldn't she be hot? And into Bitcoin?
I've also noticed that people are more interested when my wife talks about Bitcoin rather than me.
I've had better conversations about Bitcoin since I've stopped trying to convince people and just started living differently.
I won't even recommend it as a starting point for people anymore. It's a shitcoin casino with worse than bad support.
Or any businesses that accept bitcoin in #Fiji?
What say you, nostr:npub1p9d3h02ukkt9382xcqvchehm8tcjfeqff4dpw73yp5yh80qv2udqwm5svu ?

Not that I could find, but I was only there for a day traveling back from Samoa. I'd love to spend more time in Fiji. The little research I did while I was there led me to believe the Fijian government was not BTC friendly.
Anyone know of any local Samoan businesses that accept Bitcoin? I'd love to support them while we are here. #btc #Bitcoin #Samoan #samoa
As a family, we have traveled quite a bit in the last year (for us) and with trips to El Salvador and New Zealand under our belts I've learned that US coffee is shit.
100% agree. If you're not already known it's tough here in NOSTR.
There are a bunch of regional meetups that take place in #NewZealand on a fairly regular basis. When you find yourself in Queenstown there’s a monthly #bitcoin meetup (usually at World Bar, because they take bitcoin - https://www.theworldbar.co.nz/) on the third Thursday of the month. There’s also three Bitkiwi events per year - https://kiwibitcoinguide.org/home/bitkiwi-meetups/. The next is in Queenstown in about 10 days’ time with one in Auckland in July and another in Wellington in October. Well worth attending!
We will be RVing around the south island at the end of the month. I'll see if I can time it so we are in Queensland on the third Thursday. Thanks for the info.
My wife and I have quit our jobs and plan to travel with the kids in 2025. First stop, New Zealand. Any Bitcoin related stops that we should make while we visit NZ?

How does one build a following on NOSTR if you're not already well known? #nostr #virtuallyunknown
What should my reply be?

#BTC #bitcoinonly
Bitcoin as "freedom money"
Nostr as "freedom speech"
Pubky as "freedom of data" or "digital autonomy"
IPFS could be described as "freedom of access" or "freedom of distribution"
Are there other freedom technologies you would add to this list?
#decentralised #freedom
The future is brighter than most realize
Over a month ago, my truck got wrecked, and the insurance company (let's keep them anonymous) has yet to offer me a fair deal. So, I did what anyone in need of a truck would do - I bought a beat-up 2006 F250 from an auction. A little time, a few YouTube tutorials, and a couple of hundred bucks in parts later, it was running well enough for what I needed.
Yesterday, I put this old truck to the test. I hooked it up to my gooseneck trailer, loaded my tractor on, and drove it over to the kids' school for some community cleanup and shredding work. The truck, despite its age and condition, pulled through without a hitch.
An old truck, with some care, can still do the job.
I feel like that old truck today. I think I need some time and work on myself to see what the future holds. I have some work left in me and I know I can get the job done.
Yesterday a friend of mine told me "it's better to spend energy... with those that are interested." While it sounds simple it's very easy to forget this. It got me to think about why this is true.
Focus Your Energy Where It Matters Most
We have Limited Resources: Time, energy, and capital are finite. We can't afford to dilute our efforts trying to convince those who are indifferent or opposed. Instead, we should channel these resources towards individuals and communities showing curiosity or enthusiasm.
When you engage with an audience that's eager to learn, the educational process is more effective. You'll find more open minds, leading to deeper discussions, better understanding, and ultimately, more advocates.
I have found this to be true time and again this past year. When I am with like minded people I feel encouraged and energized. Yet, I keep finding myself back among the skeptics over and over again.
I need to remember to focus, the winners will be those who invested their time wisely.
