**RT @cremieuxrecueil:**
Opinion polling is strongly affected by how you ask the questions
In 2012, a series of polls asked people if they wanted to increase taxes on the rich
Most said yes!
Then another poll asked people to set a specific top tax rate
Most unwittingly selected to lower top tax rates

Pains me to say this, but even I have changed my stance on remote.
We tried hard, developed the best tooling allowed by the tech — and still, remote falls very short of colocation, especially for startups that are still pre-product market fit.

Few things are harder to predict than the ways in which someone much smarter than you might outsmart you.
That's the reason I worry about AI. Not just the problem itself, but the meta-problem that the ways the problem might play out are inherently hard to predict.

I expect we will see continual progress from here to AGI, without any period that feels like a "winter". There are just too many obvious things left to be done. And the underlying exponential growth in compute has a very long way to go.

Investigative journalism was amazing back when newspapers made 💰
In 1977, the Chicago Sun-Times bought & ran a bar to expose corruption prevalent in Chicago.
It was impactful, exposing $16M in tax fraud & led to the firing & indictment of 30+ employees

My whole adult life has been a search for quiet. I've had 3 different buildings soundproofed. I can continue working on something in a noisy place, but to \*start\* working on something I need quiet.
