You are not wrong on this, but it is not the right way to use another Platform which is also in the hand of a company and the goverment of the company country.
Would i personaly trust swiss more then russia? Of course!
But the best solution is to don´t have to trust anyone.
That is why Bitcoin is the only useful money and Nostr the only useful "social media" or also messenger.
The apps from Threema are open source, which in the end means nothing.
I do trust threema more then most of the other messenger, but it is still in the hand of a company which can be controled by the goverment and the server code is not open source, so i would never completly trust them.
It also happend to proton, that they have to control a few of there users because the swiss goverment wanted this.

A US Media writes a bad article about a russian guy.
That happens all day. America wants to destroy other messenger because they want the people to use there messenger.
That didn´t mean that i fully trust Durov.
On the other hand threema is not open source, so for me also not trustful.
We need a fully foss messenger protocol without a company behind it. Only when there is no one they can put in jail they don´t have a chance to beat a messenger down.
So i think we need a real good and safe messenger protocol inside of Nostr.
