live simply, yet fully . love deeply . laugh often

If CPUs are men, then GPUs are probably women, TPUs are the therapists, DPUs would be your go to guy and QPUs your optimistic gurus

This line reminds me of Steve Job’s ad which was reminiscent of Orwell's 1984 - on breaking away from the conformity and control of the dominant controls.

From a monetary perspective world took on different paths - the US and friends, and Soviet and Islam (of which is combining to BRICS) . The only way countries will be able to breakaway from these controls is through Bitcoin as global currency.

Similarly from a mind control, legacy media then, and centralised social media now have to pander to governments. The political arguments are often used to rile up gender and race related issues to force people to pick sides.

I was reading Sartre's work last weekend and his ideas on existentialism and human freedom reflect how societal divisions like race and gender can contribute to the conflicts of human existence. Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched Earth is good too - on the deep-seated conflicts from effects of colonization and racism arising from these societal divisions.

Venenzuela and Malaysia overcoming dictators Maduro and Mahathir had a lot of influence from the US. On one hand the people wanted to come out of oppression. On the other hand, the US plays the savior role - and even if did good for the people, the people have to figure out that they can save themselves - they have the power.

And here is where decentralised media like Nostr will play a crucial role for people to get the info that they want, instead of being fed it. And will become a true indicator of what the people are leaning towards.

This is such a complex world but the more I understand it, the more I realise we are all on the right path here.

This is so good, with an amusing start as Snowden talks about Daddy Bitcoin . Who’s your daddy bitcoin ?

I absolutely love how Snowden phrases his sentences. Some interesting lines captured :

1. We are winning ladies and gentlemen, but we haven’t won, so we have to make sure we don’t get cocky

2. they fight us, then they get us to love them (on political representation)

3. Cast a vote, but don’t join a cult. They are not your tribe

4. there's a passage from a book that I think for this crowd really resonates it says - For in every country of the world, I believe, the avarice and injustice of princes and sovereign states, abusing the confidence of their subjects, have by degrees diminished the real quantity of metal, which had been originally contained in their coins. Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations written in the year 1776 (https://www.adamsmithworks.org/documents/chapter-iv-of-the-origin-and-use-of-money)

5. you are made to pass through ‘gates of permission’ that are owned and controlled by others that do not answer frankly to anybody (on terms and conditions that you click yes)

6. whether we're talking about core governments or whether we're talking about corporations we're talking about the same thing. We're talking about the systemization of technologies that are designed to order our lives

7. Bitcoin transactions are permanent, they are public and they can be tracked and they can be linked. Enormous proportion of them are fully doxed but just not publicly doxed.

8. That metadata patterned out, is your pattern of life (dang!)

9. Metadata is like a private investigator following you all the time

10. Suddenly they can have every life of every person every day at every moment on a live feed being interpreted at machine speed and then you start feeding those inferences into a decision-making process (on advancement on machine learning and its interpolation to Bitcoin’s metadata)

11. larger and larger parts of this transaction mesh of this network gets identified - the space for everyone else to have any kind of private interaction diminishes

12. The United States is the only advanced democracy on the planet that I am aware of that does not have a basic privacy law. We have the Fourth Amendment that only binds the federal government that doesn't do diddly-squat to protect you against corporations and the government.

13. We have passed the inflection point and we are accelerating down the slope and we're reaching the point where all of us are about to have to make very serious decisions about how we spend the rest of our lives to try to make the world better for our children and for those who come after us

14. Elections do have consequences. They do matter, but sometimes it feels like they're less meaningful than they should be

15. Do you really believe that the two front runners are what you know the collective will of this country would choose as the two best Americans ? When you were a child and in school they're like oh president's the best person - does it feel like that ? I don't think so

16. right now we're doing it for the likes, we're trying to get approval, we're trying to get acceptance, we are being driven to compete for attention and for acceptance

17. we need to start, instead of competing, we need to start cooperating, working together to find our way out of this hole

18. The internet is broken because institutions are competing against the individual while the individual is competing against other individuals. We need to shatter that design

19. Competition is everywhere but it's only against the powerless

20. By all means, cast your vote. But don’t join a cult. There’s a lot of work to be done.

amazing, entire u6 is traced out. and the entire casing looks like a heat sink.

no worries. most clients show follow list, but some like coracle might show friends of friends or n degree of separation to encourage wider visibility of content and engagement. you can always reach out to the client and relay developers to find out why this is happening. hope this helps

You can tell a lot about someone by how they react to a situation

Let's talk drugs! I've heard a lot of mixed takes on marijuana and psilocybin, and wanted to share my own recent experiences. 😄

I never touched any drugs, besides alcohol/caffeine/sugar, until my 40s. I prefer to not be impaired or dependent, which is why I quit alcohol and caffeine a few years ago. Now that my kids are living on their own, and I'm retired, I find myself wanting to experience more things in life.

So I decided to try THC & psilocybin.

I can see why people are split on weed. Productivity can go way up or down, depending on the person, the mood, etc. I find it to be fun, but definitely not something I want to partake in regularly. I get way too retarded! 😂

I won't smoke or vape, so I stick with a tiny dose from a tincture. The high can last 6-8 hours in my system, which is a very long time for a small dose. Not something I want to deal with on the regular.

I'm very logical, almost to a fault. Psychedelics never sounded like a good idea, but I decided to try psilocybin recently. I was anxious about what would happen, but I put some music on, closed my eyes, and relaxed.🎶

With psilocybin, I feel like I'm tapping into a part of my brain that I rarely use. My logical thought process is still present, but my creative side takes control. I get deeply introspective. I start writing a lot.

I'm already a huge music lover, but my appreciation for it reached new heights. I experience seeing the sounds. I can fully appreciate the space between chaos and order where music lives. The more instruments the better, which is why I find orchestra music to be the absolute best with psilocybin.

It's an incredible experience that I walk away from knowing myself a little better. The writing is my favorite part, as I'm able to go back and reflect on my thoughts during the experience. To my surprise, it isn't a rambling mess! It's thoughtful, emotional, and honest. I'll even share with others who I directly write about. It's an extremely therapeutic process.

Again, I'm glad I never tried any of these mind altering substances until later in life. Being a fully developed human, and having a better understanding of myself, helps make these experiences stable and beneficial. In my youth, when my self control was worse, I could have ended up going down a dark path if I tried drugs. I'd likely be a very different person today.

I will always prefer to remain sober the overwhelming majority of the time, but I can see the pros & cons of altering your mind. Under the right circumstances, of course! 😄👍

That one time I tried shrooms, I was very disappointed with myself. It was a girls trip to Bali and given I’m the lightest; it hit me the most and the longest. It was a starry night and so I thought alright here goes, I’ll be seeing the stars turning into some cool rock bands - but nope. Everything was like in a fairyland and cupcakes. The coconut tree was layer cake. The water I drank was jello. The stars were fairies. One of the girls was into bohemian vibe at that time so the music was slightly jazzy and we were by the pool across the beach and it was a great night - except that I was incredibly amused by my mystical world. I remember telling my friends I had to be way cooler than this. Needless to say, never did shrooms again. Reality can be horrifying

That aside, Bali is wonderful. I sure miss it.

nostr is the true pH indicator of what the people want.

and this matters in preventing global interventions or gov't manipulation. Bitcoin prevents currency wars. Nostr prevents colonisation of the mind.

The Twitter timeline has become overwhelming. I tried liking only dog and baby pics for calmer content, but it didn't work—there are still too many heated political debates, often about gender and race that tears people apart, and rarely abt market and social reform that builds people up.

There are so many angles to think through on this and having a occam's razor (the simplest answer is the correct one) may not apply here.

On global splits

I think the US and many other US allies have their interest. Similarly BRICS countries have their interest.

On Maduro’s policies

Maduro’s economic policies are bad as it's not been reformed, nor diversified. Not because socialist policies are bad. Some of the richest countries in the world are socialist democrats. The unreformed ones are the poorest. But many are triggered by the word socialist without understanding the broad spectrum of it.

On dictatorship

This can exist on both sides of the spectrum (left and right) and the people have had enough of a 20 year party ruling. If you have benevolent dictator like Lee Kuan Yew, Bukele than that's another story but most dictators are corrupt, oppress the country and destroy it.

US influence on change in regime

Well this is a known case that the US has had its hand in many countries over the last several decades. In fact the US imposed sanction on Venenzuela a few years ago to force a change in regime.

On fraud election

Not surprising - i’m from a country that have witnessed it myself first hand. It happens. Whether its was fraud or not i do not know but it can happen

Regardless, it boils down to 2 things :

1. What do people want ?

If the Venezuelans want a change in regime on a large volume, then that’s by definition democracy. Whether a change in regime will be better for the country idk but it's what the people want. Its easy to say they are influenced. But they live through it day in day out for 20 years

How can we prevent global political splits in the future ?

Bitcoin as global currency - its a long journey but this will slowly prevent currency wars

Another thing to really consider is how to prevent algo influence on the lives of these people ?

And this is where Nostr as social platform becomes incredibly important. The pH of people will more accurate without external influence

Venezuela holds the largest known oil reserve in the world and has become an international financial chess match.

Chavez, followed by Maduro’s socialist, has been part of the Russian, China block and in pursuit of BRICS ally. Chavez paid off the IMF (he had Mahathir’s vibe of no IMF, no US - but Mahathir went with the Islam ally and Chavez went with the Socialist group) .

However, due to lack of market reforms, Venenzuela remains largely in debts with China, Russia, and private debtors, bonds etc.

The US and 50 other countries were not happy Venenzuela did not pick them, so they did what they always do when things don’t go their way and sanctioned the country.

This is to pressure the regime and support opposition figures (back then) Juan Guaidó and redirect state oil funds to the right wing party.

(Note - Oil revenues generally fall under federal control, even though the resources are extracted from state territories. Federal authorities often withhold these funds esp if the states are governed by opposition parties. Very similar to Mahathir’s time too.)

This sanction impacted the country severely as Maduro and gang did not diversify the economy - no market reforms nor social reforms. They were dependent on oil revenue only - big mistake - huge.

The people are tired of a 20 year regime giving handouts instead of building the country. They want change.

So yea, it has a lot of influence from various factors and everything is helter skelter right now. But Venezuela is ripe for regime change and economic diversification.

Maybe Maria Corina Machado is an ally of the US, I won't be surprised. Like Mahathir vs Anwar, Anwar and many who supported him were funded and trained from various US NGOs for years. And similarly, it was to end a Mahathir's 20 yrs regime that would not support the US - but the people could not tolerate the Mahathir dictatorship anymore and it took many riots and tear gassing. Then again its back to square one as Anwar is curbing freedom of expression dictatorial style and aligning publicly with Brics, so who knows.

And here is where Bitcoin really matters. I know this sounds like such a cliche “Bitcoin fixes this” ending but it is incredibly important to have an impartial global currency.

One that Venezuela can trade with the US and Russia without offending one or the other. Right now, Venezuela is stuck and is forced to pick sides.

But it is also incredible that the people are rising and saying enough is enough. This is when the people lead and hopefully governments follow.

There are no direct answers to your questions but i hope this helps

my thoughts on Venezuela...

Maduro could be a dictator, with bad economic policy. The right wing could be CIA-influenced. None of it matters.

What matters is what the people want. That and the importance of Bitcoin as global currency. That's all that matters.

being half the person my dad was would be the most positive vibe for me. and i wish everyone had a chance to experience the love of a wonderful father. some of the stories i heard today was very devastating, the can't stop crying kind. real world is tough on many in various ways

Been down this week with high fever. I have not been this sick in a while and it’s been a battle between the body saying shut down and the mind saying no

Sometimes I hear stories of how people’s fathers were bad to them growing up and I feel really bad, i feel really sorry. My dad gave up so much so that I would have a better life. You know that story in the gospel of Mark where people contributed out of abundance but a poor lady gave everything she got which was barely 2 coins and that carried more value ? That was my dad. He was kind to all and would not ask for himself even when he was in need. He had a great sense of humour and knew how to make light of difficult situation to ease people around him. No matter what happened, you know he will be there. He had so much love. Sometimes it's the little things that are really the big things. I miss my dad a lot. Would do anything to have just one more day

Some Bitcoin / Nostr innovation ideas / use cases :

1. Zap Payment Service as “other stuff” or lightning payment services

Create a payment service with zap, along with its api/posse (?) to be integrated with global services or a simpler way for nodes to be integrated by businesses and general users

Use cases : gamers using ios and android can use zaps for micropayment instead of faux money alongside nostr community chat options. Primal/Damus has shown how zaps are possible on ios

2. Create a freedom oriented client

specifically for oppressed countries who need easy adoption and private mode conversations. While Nostr is a protocol, this client can have all features dedicated towards people from these countries (requires studying what they need)

3. Explore B2B opportunity with Nostr

There’s YouTube premier, TV, Red, Originals, free with ads etc. Maybe propose one to YT where people pay as they please using zaps, no ads and chat avenues ?

Maybe various businesses like media could be clients of Nostr with similar chat and zap features (B2B) - with private relays if needed.

4. Tidal /Nostr Battle of the Bands

Attendees buy their tickets as usual. And they will be redirected to install wallet where ticket price will be converted to sats.

The goal is to zap sats and the highest zaps win.

In this case this could also be a bitcoin minted token so that token owner can take back (rug pull) the money at the end of the evening (to encourage attendees to zap the winners at the concert).

cc nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m

5. Establishing end to end encryption or de identifying of data for B2C businesses to protect customers data from forceful surrender to govt, leaks, spams etc. I love DID’s latest initiative to make their approach more commonly used.

6. Exploring EMF to cater to smaller movements (home based hydro or wind) to produce higher powered generators for home miners. I have been having a maxwell moment.

7. Collaborating with developers and solar installers to setup home base mining systems for new homes as an advantage to home buyers. Normalise home mining systems

8. Foreign workers globally : while remittance is an issue, an emerging problem is limited access to digital wallets within the country they are working in - as their identity doesn’t count. Expanding bitcoin wallets without kyc and liaising with businesses to accept them

9. More Bitcoin integrator to online commerce, to foster competition which will boost innovation. There is a huge miss opportunity to enable bitcoin as common denominator in global commerce

10. Might be easier to explore widespread bitcoin adoption in countries US imports and exports from to encourage its acceptance in U.S. for small business owners (import countries - Mexico, Vietnam etc).

11. Elevating small manufacturers by reducing banking hurdles and commerce and in hopes to minimise hegemony trade (my hope someday)

12. Some other things that might be relevant :

- Anonymity on Nostr - more clients that can be connected to Tor or other ways to protect user visibility. Oppressive countries can be brutal.

- to split private relays from general relays that uses gossip and provide uses the option for asynchronous / mutually exclusive selections between general and private

I’m sure the feasibility of use cases requires a lot more through through process. But with every problem there is opportunity.

I would love to see more Bitcoin and Nostr use cases globally. I’ll add on to the thread as more ideas pop up.

13. Another battle of the band is a hackathon version where it’s a battle of the band for devs with various innovations implemented over tidal and similar avenues on nostr

(Note : I realise the above no.4 battle of the band token nature may have come across negatively and it wasn’t my intention. The idea is to see sats spent as votes during a short time frame, and I was trying to figure out the most practical implementation nature )

14. Online docs for word, spreadsheet and slides which you can store on your own relay

15. Relay and lightning mode as hardware (just a circuitry with good processor and storage) - with easy to install software (plug and play)
