Luckily there will be many implementations of thought. But even requiring something like 10 sats to query certain data types only, allows legitimate users to still post, while spammers are “priced out” from pulling hundreds, thousands or millions of request across dozens of relays.
How does it know who we are? I don’t see a “sign in” page or anything.
That is beyond my technical knowledge. But yea, I’m sure we’re going to see an influx of people trying to “attack” the system or methodology of the Nostr open design. Luckily as paid relays take off, they’ll have to pay for these useless queries.

Parents should almost be banned from youth sports. Your kid ain’t the next tiger woods, Michael Jordan or Roger Staubach. Let them enjoy being a part of a team and something bigger than themselves. And stop coaching unless you wanna actually volunteer!
To me, the like on Nostr is more of a nod to a passing stranger or a slight hand wave from the steering wheel to a driver being Courteous. It’s just a “hey that’s a good comment/thought/picture” but not worth a full conversation. I could careless about the notification though. I guess it’s a good quick signal that folks are listening and either like or don’t like the content in a minimalist sense. Zaps are a much more appreciation of the content and replies are interactions that want to take it to a conversational human level.
Maybe trying to build a list of users or something? Or querying what users are on what relay?

Yeah don’t think you have that option just yet in Strike or CashApp. Blue wallet maybe but it’s pretty difficult to use based on running your own node or not. Honestly I’d download WoS for playing around until you figure it out in the others. You can always change it later.
