I recently read Robert Aickman for the first time and now I'm wondering what on earth I've been doing with my life. He's instantly become one of my favourite authors - the perfect blend of M.R. James and Philip Larkin.

These guys are one of the best of the crop of 2000s doom bands imho. They ended up doing a couple of albums of "free doom" with a sax player that are killer.
Takes a good 10 minutes to get going but it's worth the wait once the vox kick in.

I dunno, the Mary Chain version is pretty damn good.
Saw them in '96 and they were phenomenal - my favourite band at the time. Would love to see them again.
Better than the Jesus & Mary Chain version. Maybe even better than Bo Diddley's original.
