Joe Lake Shelter House: Mark Robinsion is making his guest his cousion, Roy Dixon comfortable for the night.

Big Wap Island: It's a dark night. Geo. Rowe and Lowrie Dickson have built a fire and are keeping vigil.

It will take at least a Mason jar of whisky for George Rowe to get through the night. Luckily, he has two.

Lowrie Dickson knows that Visitors have no inkling of how unforgiving the Park can be. This is just another example.

Geo. Rowe is thankful that the black flies are done and the mosquitoes are lying low. It's the damn midges that are eating him alive.

A restricted palette does not limit your tones and shades. It makes you work harder and in the end you get the right colour

Big Wap Island: With no coroner, the body must stay the water overnight. Mark Robinson winces at the thought.

George Bartlett, now ex offico coroner, writes up death certificate: "Accidental death by drowining."

Mark Robinson returns to Joe Lake Shelter House, telephones George Bartlett: "No coroner, I need a death certificate."

Mark Robinson: "Is the coroner on the train?" Roy Dixon: " No. I can do nothing without a death certificate."

The passengers disembark. Mark Robinson greets embalmer and undertaker Dixon and Flavelle.

Canoe Lake Station: Evening train arrives at 9:12, Undertakers arrive, but no coronor.

Today it's a tragedy. Tomorrow it becomes a travesty. Follow me http://t.co/zXyT7oFQZ6

Big Wapomeo Island at sunset. George Rowe and Lowrie Dickson prepare for an all-night vigil with the body.

Good art is understood with the mind's eye

Mowat Lodge: Charles Plewman likes the rustic aspect of @mowatlodge 'But it's so damn gloomy here!'

Joe Lake: Mark Robinson writes in his journal. His words are no more than a pale shadow describing the events of the day.

Beauty is buried under the thick layers of the obvious.
