Is there a clear answer to what the relationship is between the fed and the treasury? (Or maybe the real question is the relationship between the fed and the government.)
It seems like the fed sets goals for itself that are highly dependent on decisions outside of it’s control.
Why would the fed set an inflation target if it doesn’t even dictate how much money the treasury prints?
