"What does a scanner see? he asked himself. I mean, really see? Into the head? Down into the heart? Does a passive infrared scanner like they used to use or a cube-type holo-scanner like they use these days, the latest thing, see into me—into us—clearly or darkly?"
Artists and filmmakers Stephen and Timothy Quay provided the cover art work for the 1977 release of Philip K. Dick's A Scanner Darkly.

Marilyn said to Einstein, with charming honesty: "You and I could have children: I would enhance my beauty and your intelligence." To which the father of relativity and the atomic bomb replied: "Maybe it comes out with my beauty and with your intelligence." It is known (tests were made later), that Marilyn Monroe's IQ was 165, five points above "the greatest genius of all time".
Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jeane Baker, 1926-1962), was a great reader. She had a library in her house with about a thousand books. She spent hours reading works of literature, poetry, theater, philosophy, because her spirit, in addition to her great will to live, had an insatiable curiosity and thirst for knowledge.
Some beautiful quotes from this great woman are:
1. One of the best things that ever happened to me is that I am a woman. That's what all women should feel.
2. People started saying she was a lesbian. I smiled. There is no wrong sex if there is love in it.
3. Dogs do not bite. Only humans.
4. It doesn't feel like spring. I feel like red hot autumn.
5. Laugh when you're sad. Winning is too easy.
6. I want to grow old without a facelift. I want to have the courage to be honest with the face I've made.
7. No one told me I was pretty when I was little. Every kid should be told they're handsome, even if they're not.
8. Sex symbols are something. I hate being something.
9. Being a sex symbol is a heavy burden to carry, especially when one is tired, hurt, and confused.
10. It's better to be alone than unhappy with someone.
11. Imperfection is beauty, stupidity is genius. It's better to be silly than boring. 12. Disappointment opens eyes and closes hearts.
13. I'm a little girl in a big world trying to find someone to love.
14. Sex is part of nature. And I have a wonderful time with nature.
15. I never leave anyone I trust.
16. I never cheat on anyone. Sometimes I let men cheat on themselves.
17. If I followed all the rules, I would never get anywhere.
18. It is easier to love a man than to live with him.
19. Keep your head up, chin up, keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there is a lot to smile about.

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (September 24, 1896 – December 21, 1940),
widely known simply as Scott Fitzgerald, was an American novelist, essayist, and short story writer. He is best known for his novels depicting the flamboyance and excess of the Jazz Age, a term he popularized in his short story collection Tales of the Jazz Age. During his lifetime, he published four novels, four story collections, and 164 short stories. Although he achieved temporary popular success and fortune in the 1920s, Fitzgerald received critical acclaim only after his death and is now widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.
As one of the leading authorial voices of the Jazz Age, Fitzgerald's literary style influenced a number of contemporary and future writers. As early as 1922, critic John V. A. Weaver noted that Fitzgerald's literary influence was already "so great that it cannot be estimated."
Similar to Edith Wharton and Henry James, Fitzgerald's style often used a series of disconnected scenes to convey plot developments. His lifelong editor Max Perkins described this particular technique as creating the impression for the reader of a railroad journey in which the vividness of passing scenes blaze with life. In the style of Joseph Conrad, Fitzgerald often employed a narrator's device to unify these passing scenes and imbue them with deeper meaning.
Gatsby remains Fitzgerald's most influential literary work as an author. The publication of The Great Gatsby prompted poet T. S. Eliot to opine that the novel was the most significant evolution in American fiction since the works of Henry James. Charles Jackson, author of The Lost Weekend, wrote that Gatsby was the only flawless novel in the history of American literature. Later authors Budd Schulberg and Edward Newhouse were deeply affected by it, and John O'Hara acknowledged its influence on his work.
Richard Yates, a writer often compared to Fitzgerald, hailed The Great Gatsby as showcasing Fitzgerald's miraculous talent and triumphal literary technique.
An editorial in The New York Times summarized the considerable influence of Fitzgerald upon contemporary writers and Americans in general during the Jazz Age: "In the literary sense he invented a 'generation' ... He might have interpreted them, and even guided them, as in their middle years they saw a different and nobler freedom threatened with destruction."

The Man in the High Castle (1962), by Philip K. Dick, is an alternative history novel wherein the Axis Powers won World War II.
The story occurs in 1962, fifteen years after the end of the war in 1947, and depicts the life of several characters living under Imperial Japan or Nazi Germany as they rule a partitioned United States. The eponymous character is the mysterious author of a novel-within-the-novel entitled The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, a subversive alternative history of the war in which the Allied Powers are victorious.

TV Series:
This series, loosely based Philip K. Dick's novel of the same name, takes a look at what the world might look like had the outcome of World War II turned out differently. In this dystopian scenario, the Axis powers won the war, leading to the United States being divided into three parts, an area controlled by the Japanese, a Nazi-controlled section, and a buffer zone between the two. Despite the oppression, a new hope emerges when films turn up that seem to show a different world. A woman believes the films contain the key to freedom and is determined to find their mysterious guardian.

The Animals' original lineup consisted of frontman Eric Burdon, guitarist Hilton Valentine, bass guitarist Chas Chandler, keyboardist Alan Price, and drummer John Steel. Known for their gritty, bluesy sound, they balanced tough, rock-edged pop singles against rhythm-and-blues-orientated album material, and were part of the British Invasion of the US.
The Animals rose to prominence with their signature song and transatlantic number-one hit single "The House of the Rising Sun", and continued this success with hits such as "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", "It's My Life", "Don't Bring Me Down", "I'm Crying", "See See Rider" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". They underwent numerous personnel changes in the mid-1960s, and suffered from poor business management, leading the original incarnation to split up.
By May 1965, the group was starting to feel internal pressures. Price left because of personal and musical differences, as well as his fear of flying while on tour. He went on to a successful career as a solo artist and with the Alan Price Set. Mick Gallagher filled in for Price on keyboards for a short time until Dave Rowberry replaced Gallagher. Rowberry was on hand for the hit songs "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" and "It's My Life".
Pictured here is the May 1965 – February 1966 lineup featuring Dave Rowberry, Hilton Valentine, John Steel, Chas Chandler, and Eric Burdon.

THE REAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RITCHIE BLACKMORE AND JOHN BONHAM
Ritchie Blackmore and John Bonham are two of the most iconic musicians in rock history. Blackmore, the guitarist for Deep Purple and Rainbow, and Bonham, the drummer for Led Zeppelin, are often regarded as legends in their respective fields. But what was the real relationship between these two titans of rock?
Uniting Talents For Musical Bonds
While Blackmore and Bonham were never in a band together, they did cross paths on several occasions. In fact, they were good friends and had mutual respect for each other’s talents. Blackmore even attended Bonham’s wedding in 1974.
Despite their friendship, Blackmore and Bonham had different approaches to music. Blackmore was known for his technical proficiency and precision, while Bonham was all about feel and groove. However, both musicians shared a love for improvisation and pushing the boundaries of their instruments.
Legendary Encounter
One of the most memorable moments of their relationship was when Blackmore joined Led Zeppelin on stage for a jam session during a gig in 1970. The impromptu performance saw Blackmore and Bonham trading licks and grooves, showcasing their incredible chemistry and musicianship.
Sadly, Bonham’s untimely death in 1980 meant that we never got to see these two legends collaborate on a full album or tour. However, their friendship and mutual admiration for each other’s talents will always be remembered by fans of rock music.
The Remarkable Relationship
To put it briefly, the authentic bond shared between Ritchie Blackmore and John Bonham can be characterized as one marked by respect, admiration, and friendship. Although they didn’t collaborate on any formal projects, their meetings and impromptu music sessions showcased their exceptional musical chemistry and talent.

Newgrange, a 5,200-year-old Neolithic tomb in County Meath, Ireland, predates both the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge, standing as one of the world’s oldest monuments.
In County Meath, Ireland, the ancient monument of Newgrange stands as a testament to early human ingenuity and spirituality. Built around 3,200 BC, Newgrange predates the pyramids of Egypt by 600 years and Stonehenge by 1,000, making it one of the world’s most ancient structures.
This Neolithic tomb, with its massive stone passage and inner chamber, is renowned for its alignment with the winter solstice. Every year, on the shortest days of the year, sunlight floods through a small opening above the entrance, illuminating the inner chamber for a brief but powerful display of light. This phenomenon is a testament to the builders’ understanding of astronomy and their deep reverence for seasonal cycles.
The builders carefully selected and shaped massive stones to create an impressive circular structure, adorned with mysterious carvings that include spirals, lozenges, and other geometric shapes. These designs have sparked centuries of speculation about their meaning, and although their exact purpose remains a mystery, they reveal the artistry and beliefs of a society that flourished over five millennia ago.
Today, Newgrange stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site, drawing visitors from around the world to marvel at its age, its engineering, and the ancient human spirit it represents.

Golden hats are a very specific and rare type of archaeological artifact from Bronze Age Europe.
So far, four such objects are known. The objects are made of thin sheet gold and were attached externally to long conical and brimmed headdresses which were probably made of some organic material and served to stabilise the external gold leaf.

The following conical golden hats are known:
-Avanton Gold Cone, incomplete, found at Avanton near Poitiers in 1844, c. 1400 BC.
-Golden Hat of Schifferstadt, found in 1835 at Schifferstadt near Speyer, c. 1400–1300 BC.

-Golden Cone of Ezelsdorf-Buch, found near Ezelsdorf near Nuremberg in 1953, c. 1000–900 BC; the tallest known specimen at roughly 90 cm (35 in).
-Berlin Gold Hat, found probably in Swabia or Switzerland, c. 1000–800 BC; acquired by the Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte, Berlin, in 1996.
Although none can be dated precisely, their technology suggests that they were probably made between 1400–800 BC.

Puma Punku, part of Tiwanaku in the Bolivian Andes, has captivated experts for centuries.
Belived to be built around 536 CE by the Tiwanaku civilization, this high-altitude site is famed for its precision-cut sandstone and andesite blocks, some weighing over 100 tons.
The interlocking H-shaped stones and intricate modular designs reveal advanced geometry and engineering skills, fitting together so tightly that even a razor blade cannot pass between them.
Yet, mysteries remain: how the Tiwanaku people achieved such accuracy, transported massive stones to nearly 13,000 feet, and the purpose of the site.
These unanswered questions continue to intrigue and inspire exploration.
