Gold-backed currencies were the reason we have fiat now.
Going back to an IOU in the form of a gold-backed cryptocurrency is a terrible idea.

The ECB is the cause of Europe's inflation crisis.
In doing so it is opening the eyes of more and more people that we have a choice to make:
1- Adopt a #Bitcoin standard NOW
2- Continue the death spiral (and adopt a #Bitcoin standard after everything has come crashing down)

Why does gold have intrinsic value?
Gold has intrinsic value because it's durable, scarce, and hard to mine (this prevents sudden supply increases).

A gold-backed currency is a terrible idea Peter Schiff.
The result will be same as the gold-backed currencies we tried in the past:
1- Fractional banking
2- Fiat
Instead of wasting time on a gold-backed currency, BRICS should adopt #Bitcoin for trade:
1- They would be able to start tomorrow.
2- The US dollar would be in serious trouble the day after tomorrow.
