UI is a server side rendered UI using Maud in rust. We built it for the server application and I just reused it for the mobile app

Curious what Nostr thinks about this idea:

A Fedimint module to be a "maker" on JoinMarket. A federation could earn fees (or the forbidden word "yield") on the backing reserves of the Fedimint. Currently the federation's funds do not move unless there is a pegin or a pegout, and the idea would be to put this capital to use in a non-custodial way. Could provide an incentive for running a Fedimint.

Fedimint will have that in the v0.8 release. We are working on Start9 and Umbrella packages. This is just another wallet to use!

Will probably make that toggable

New Fedimint FOSS wallet inbound! Still finishing up all the features, like onchain and Lightning Address, but below is a sneak peak at the wallet. Shooting for a release later this summer or in the early fall.

Desktop and Android support, iOS at a later date.

What other ecash or Nostr features should we include? Feedback welcome!

I am interested in purchasing some "smart home" devices for my house, like cameras and sensors. But I'm not really thrilled about using a cloud service or some server that is going to track my data.

Is anyone familiar with any low-friction self-hosted alternatives?

We're doing trivia tomorrow at the Minneapolis Bitcoin Meetup! We will have a mixture of prizes, including a Bit Axe and a Minneapolis branded seed signer.

Nostr gets the sneak peak at the format and scoresheet that nostr:nprofile1qyx8wumn8ghj7cnjvghxjmcpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqqgp0859a0nnv6f050gh5kgmaf2erevajmzwlqvkjzkrguq8288vvhsaj4ahn created

Minneapolis BitDevs is happening this Tuesday! Free food and drinks will be provided. We will be arguing about OP_RETURN, discussing SwiftSync, partitioning mempools, and more.

Happy hour at Indeed Brewing afterwards.

When: Tuesday May 13th 5-7pm. Socratic Seminar starts at 5:30.

Where: Improving Inc in Minneapolis. See website for details.

Agenda: https://bitdevsmpls.org/2025-05-13-socratic-seminar-27

Who wants to experiment with something right now? I want to test audio calling over Iroh using this repo: https://github.com/n0-computer/callme

If you are keen, clone it, build it, and run it (callme-egui) and then dial me at: b0ec00ba45a636ec0c8d5e22753a5d72ca7f4f41345e648fa3df44f44f720565

I'll leave it running for 30 minutes and then if nobody called me I'll kill it. It's a very sketchy barebones thing, I'm not even sure if it "rings" when you call.

We implemented Iron into Fedimint!

Because furnaces are used in minting currency and money is basically alchemy.

That's a good suggestion. I'm not sure I know how to pronounce it though lol

Myself and other open source contributors are building a new Fedimint wallet.

It will support multiple mints, NIP87 mint discovery, and connecting to federations via Iroh. Ideally LN Address and NWC as well.

What should we name this wallet?

Not necessary for guardians to run one. Similar to nostr, if a relay starts censoring traffic, someone else (could be a guardian) can spin one up and use that instead of the default

On the Fedimint dev call today, we setup a demo federation using Iroh.

Iroh is fucking awesome. It allows each Fedimint guardian to talk to each other via a relay, sets up P2P communication using hole punching, and uses public keys as identifiers (which allows the servers to change their actual IP address).

Everything can run behind a NAT on your laptop or home server. No domain names, no cloud servers, no open ports. It took us just 15 minutes to set one up with zero networking issues.

Distributed systems magic.

Minneapolis BitDevs is tonight at 5pm!

Not a developer? Not a problem. BitDevs is targeted for anyone that wants to further their understanding of Bitcoin. If you're going to hold Bitcoin, you might as well understand how it works

Where: Improving Inc

When: Tuesday Jan 14th, 5-7pm. Socratic Seminar will start at 5:30pm

Agenda: https://bitdevsmpls.org/2025-01-14-socratic-seminar-23

Food and refreshments are provided.

We will be discussing bitcoin privacy tools like Coinjoin and Coinswap, as well as a Lightning vulnerability (update your nodes!)

What are the best resources for becoming familiar with miniscript?

What I want:

- post photos to my own relay

- easy UX for others to view my photos

- possibly have the ability to whitelist some photos for specific npubs (private photos, family members, etc).

I've always wanted more sovereignty over my photos but it seems to always come at the cost of easily sharing them with others. Nostr seems like a good solution for this. Can any clients do this?

Is there an instagram-like app for Nostr?

Grateful to be able to continue working on fun Bitcoin and Fedimint Lightning stuff.

Also, one thing I am interested in building during this grant is a "collaborative custody" Fedimint module, where the federation can provide one key in a 2-3 multisig. The federation can use FROST to sign transactions. Kind of like a "federated Unchained Capital". Not sure if it will be useful, but I think it will be a fun project.
