I work in the traditional (legacy?) financial system. It’s crazy that after the past ~15 years, bitcoin is being discussed more prominently as part of financial planning / asset management tools in the advisor space.

Saylor next month talking to a bunch of RIAs about #bitcoin?!? Probably nothing…. 🤭

Adoption will continue to increase even though it’s not multi-sig’d, cold-storaged at the desired Bitcoin Maxi level, but these spot bitcoin products will be one of the largest funnels of fiat->bitcoin ever!

The spot ETFs hold actual bitcoin. Non-income producing bitcoin.

The future ETFs don’t hold actual bitcoin. Those would typically hold US Treasury Bils plus bitcoin futures contracts that trade on the CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange).

Spot ETFs generate no dividends.

Future ETFs generate dividends.

Both types are registered with the SEC (in the US; have management fees (expenses) and are tradable in brokerage / IRA / retirement plan accounts.

Obviously do your own research. Can go deeper if you want.

I’d like to see fully integrated messaging (notes) with payments (lightning) as the standard for every Earthling. Plus protocols to block bad actors (e.g. spam bots) from participating. I actually started with the *American format* due to being American 🤭 but in my adulthood I noticed that YYYY-MM-DD in the file name (same place in file name) always solved my “sorting” issues. Then I just grew used to that format as my “preferred” format when possible.

I think for it to be universal, it would need to be YYYY-Month name-DD otherwise we’re just moving the MM/DD vs DD/MM issue to another format for the unfamiliar people. 😔
