The Blockchain Trilemma highlights the challenge of balancing three key properties in a blockchain:

Bitcoin prioritizes security and decentralization at the base layer, recognizing that a monetary network aiming to be the world’s reserve currency must first be secure and neutral before optimizing for speed. Builders and entrepreneurs are now solving scalability on second layers, like the Lightning Network, ensuring Bitcoin remains the most trusted, incorruptible financial foundation in the world.
