The previous Olympics resulted in an Italian and a Qatari agreeing to “win” a gold medal together, essentially what true Americans deep down know is a “tie.”

The true “spirit of competition” is coming to terms with the fact that if you don’t win, you still gave it your best shot.

If you’re a competitive person and know how the real world works, you remember that feeling deep down where you know you didn’t deserve that “trophy.” It was fake. It wasn’t deserved. You didn’t derive any satisfaction from it.

I’ll never forget I “won” a trophy after we won one game in T-ball the whole season.
