It's just part of your profile. If you change clients or your computer dies then all you should need is your nsec and everything else you can sync from the network.

In the EU we had a big vote on it and everyone decided to get rid of it. It passed the European Parliament and everything. But it hasn't happened yet because nobody seems to be able to decide whether we're supposed to keep the winter time or the summer time.
