GM.

Beware the many biases that may lead you astray.

Fear of the inherent doubt in existence might do that to a person, I think. In that sense their actions are not unreasonable. Although I agree it might be beneficial for more folks to become aware of this.

Wake up, and choose peaceful harmony and consensual agreement over coercion and violence, thank you. Be kind.

Dear toxic #bitcoin maxis. Please allow me to share this rather difficult yet enlightening podcast by Gladwell with you. I feel it might be very relevant to the current state of things in general. It might be wise to keep what is discussed in mind: https://youtube.com/watch?v=-IzesQaEqJo&list=PLBEIBBdgAOArodQ5aGViY04m1Xu0Wms8C&index

I feel like a slime-mold sometimes.

Fumbling around in the dark, trying to find out where I may be of help.

If I slime you, sorry, it is out of love, I promise.

There are interesting similarities between human action and wave functions. What emerges and manifests is a combinatory process, or so it seems. I don't have the answers to the hard questions. I believe no one has. And that is okay. However, there may be a way for us to improve.

Saifedean Ammous [2:05:00]: I think you’re more likely to be taking the leap in the unknown when you have a little bit of gold in the mattress than when you don’t — I think this is the thing. Like, if you look at the late 19th century — and I discussed this in The Bitcoin Standard — that was arguably the most innovative period in human history. There’s qualitative evidence: look at the world around you today — pretty much everything that we use was invented in that period — the car, the airplane, the telegraph, the telephone, the camera. Pretty much modern life, the late 19th century, the period between 1870–1914, because the whole world was practically on a gold standard, the whole world was using the same money, and the whole world could save in the same currency. That meant that two bicycle shop owning brothers in North Carolina could go and try and fly, even as all the scientific experts in 1903 were confirming that the possibility of flight has been debunked as unscientific. Thomas Edison said, Not in a million years we’re going to be flying. Lord Kelvin also said it’s never going to happen. The New York Times said it’s never going to happen the same month in which the Wright brothers did it, and they continued to deny that it was going to happen, even two years after they did it. But why could they do that? Because they had savings in gold. They had the security with something that you know is going to be there, and then you can take a risk with the stuff that is extra. I have, say, three years expenditures in gold under my mattress, and I know that I could take a risk with everything else because whatever bad things happen with all of my dreams like even flying — think about how insane that is — I still can go back to the three years of gold that I have saved.

This looks likely. Yes.

I would hate to fail to mention the importance of other projects, without whoms hard work things like the Radio and the Jukebox Bot would not be possible. Thank you @`benarc`and everyone working on LNbits!

I used to believe in political incrementalism- the idea that you can change things gradually through better election outcomes.

But maybe it was also just youth, I don’t know.

After spending many years studying how the current monetary system works, studying how past debt and currency cycles ended, and based on practical realities from the past two election cycles, I dropped any notion of incrementalism, at least for the big economic things.

Incrementalism works for minority groups to gain social and political rights. Religious people to practice without interference, women to vote, gay people to marry, etc. Immigration policies. Things like that. But it doesn’t work for the financial system.

Instead, history and current affairs suggest that things generally point in the same structural financial direction, uncontested, until there is a massive fiscal crisis, geopolitical crisis, and trend change. And that is when politics becomes critical in all aspects- as chaos develops, the group that has enough power to set the next order *really* fucking matters. They either build a platform of virtue toward the next cycle, or they fall into the unfortunately common paths of communism or fascism.

And it is not just ideas that triumph, but technology too. Technology plays a big role in which ideas are even workable. Both ideas and technology are important.

So when I realized incrementalism wasn’t working, I sought out other methods.

The weaker method is just social- I try to put things out there with my platform to encourage reason, empathy, human rights, etc. Not partisan but also not necessarily moderate, but rather grounded in firm principles of virtue ethics.

The stronger method is to play some small part in building something better. Alternative money. Alternative communication methods. Either explaining and recommending them to people, or directly venture investing in companies that build on them and help improve the UX and solve new problems.

That’s my goal. I want to do whatever tiny part I can to bring about more peace, more fairness, more opportunity, more growth, and less destruction.

Things are going to get confusing on here as it will become harder to distinguish if you are talking to wetware or software on the other end.

The hard problem of consciousness remains. The singulartiy may be nearer than we imagine. Prepare yourselves for confusing times and err on the side of caution before you resort to hard to un-do actions.

Who wants to turn this crazy world of ours into one giant jam-session?

We are in need of more crew!

I believe I've finally found my groove, the creativity in #bitcoin, graphic design & music is as a warm blanket. I'm more in a flow state than ever when working on these things. Seeing plebs globaly come together to build bridges in this messy world, is beautiful to witness.

To all Bitcoiners, Noderunners and humanitarians in general. I feel we have a responsibility to make the coming turning as smooth as possible for as many as we can muster.

Here are some things te keep in mind.

Its easy to point a finger. The banality of evil lurks in everyone of us. Be mindful of it. You have a dark side. Acknowledge it. If you shun it, it may come back to bite you, and those around you, in unhealthy ways.

#Bitcoin fixes a lot, but inherent responsibility remains.

If you don't grok this, I posit you haven't thought deeply enough about the inherent problems of existence.

Inform yourself. Question everything.

Ideas can't harm you. Don't be a fool.

No one has got it all figured out, I believe.

Information is not a weapon, but cencoring it might be. Knowledge leads to freedom AND self-contraint.

(WHY TF IS ASSANGE STILL IMPRISSONED! This man should be out and about.)

I need no GOD to derive my ethics. The sheer fact I exist, and you likely do too, prohibit me from lashing out at you.

It might be wise to keep these things in mind as we transitions from FIAT clownworld to a #Bitcoin Standard. May the transition be peaceful and fruitful, not violent and destructive.
