when they are or even just might be wrong, they get overwhelmed by shame or embarrassment (which often turns into rage & anger at “the messengers” & a feeling of them being an existential threat) instead of being calm & evaluating things from an objective, truth-seeking perspective.
also explains gossip culture, tribalism in the modern age, & other mob behaviors like bullying & ostracism.
some of the best people we all know on here always say things like “stay humble” or “ask more questions since you don’t know shit” and are not afraid of what the mobs will think.
