Her groundbreaking work discovered that a protein that is critical for cell survival has two distinct mitochondrial localizations with disparate functions, linking its anti-apoptotic role to a previously unrecognized role in mitochondrial respiration and maintenance of mitochondrial structure.
Her dissertation findings were published in the 2012 issue of Nature Cell Biology.

The vast majority of Americansā income taxes are now being swallowed up just to pay interest on the countryās national debt, new numbers show.
Economist E.J. Antoni reports that based on the Fedās June numbers, interest on the national debt is the equivalent of 76% of all personal income taxes collected by the government.
āInterest on the federal debt was equal to 76% of all personal income taxes collected in Jun ā thatās the Treasuryās largest source of revenue and three-quarters of it gets consumed just by interest; does Congress know? Do they even care?ā
Antoni says the cost to service the federal debt has exploded 33% in a single year, and set to get worse.
The economist also reports that interest on the national debt was the single biggest expense for the government in June, far outrunning other critical public services, and the Treasury expects it will break the $1.14 trillion level this fiscal year.

Yes, banks are coming to Bitcoin in the U.S. and they'll gladly custody your Bitcoin.
Bloomberg reported last week that the SEC is now granting āexceptionsā to its punitive accounting standard called SAB-121 for āseveral large banks,ā which an SEC spokesman subsequently confirmed.
This new fact means some banks are no longer constrained by an accounting rule that previously penalized banks for providing custody services for bitcoin.
This SEC news means the SAB-121 obstacle is no longer in the banksā way.
Banks structurally provide better protection for custody customers than non-banks can, due to a particular legal feature of banks in the U.S.: by law, banks cannot be dragged into bankruptcy, which ā in this context ā means custody assets held by a bank cannot be subjected to the uncertainties of the federal bankruptcy process.
Banks entering the Bitcoin custody business will of course bring liquidity, because banks bring connectivity to the traditional financial system. Wall Street is coming!
