I had a similar discussion w/a young guy at a #LocalBitcoinMeetUp. He expressed his disapproval of Ross Ulbricht profiting off The Silk Road, knowing what it was being used for.
After several minutes of back & forth I ultimately asked:
- well, what of the creators of the internet (basically the U.S. govt)? Should they be jailed, or worse, for everything illegal/immoral occurring on the internet?
In my view, it’s the same thing; just, different layers. Like Shrek said about Ogres & onions 🧅 😆
His paraphrased response was “well, that’s different…”
I too learned I need to distill my statements to where they’re easier to absorb for others. 🤷🏾♂️
