Yeah, unfortunately nothing I’ve seen so far. But the fact raycast has brought attention and hype back into the space. I wouldn’t be surprised if a high-quality open source competitor emerges eventually. 🤞

Less convenient but none of those gadgets built an advertiser profile on you 🫠

Was thinking the same earlier!

I don’t think I have heard of him, I’m reading his Wikipedia article now though

How is the book to you, is he poetic in his writing?

Yes

Simple algos that work like plug and play extensions. Open source. Easy enough for the masses to modify with gui’s and/or LLM chat bots trained to modify the algos to user liking.

Therefore we have an opportunity to set a culture of algos that is radically different that VC backed soc net algos.

Encourage/build algos that:

Encourage free speech but enable users to easily block filter what they choose).

Default to chronological.

Default to treating all humans as equal on the timeline/feed.

Rejects bots

Rejects ad networks.

Essentially an algo that gives future users the nostr we have now.

They can of course choose something radically different if they wish.

“Poor Faulkner. Does he really think big emotions come from big words? He thinks I don’t know the ten-dollar words. I know them all right. But there are older and simpler and better words, and those are the ones I use.”

I love the slick look of Raycast but don’t love that it is VC funded and closed source. I installed in a few months back but haven’t used it much yet. What are you day one impressions now that you are a few hours in the saddle?

You are always too kind with your zaps. I’m curious what client/setup you are using to zap notes? Thinking about using zapplepay

That was a great read and very well written.

It makes me wonder a reoccurring thought I have:

Why do networks need to have 100 millions plus users in the first place?

People say that if it’s not growing it’s dying but is that really true?

Silicon Valley VC’s need their networks to grow to 100 million because they want to get a 10x++ multiple on their investment. Because we all hear that type of thinking repeated so much, regular every day folks start to say the same thing…

…But perhaps a community could be perfectly fine with say 10 million users? That would be the size of a large global city.

I believe in #nostr
