Software engineer ๐Ÿ’ป geeking out on Bitcoin, if Iโ€™m not watching something about space and the universe ๐Ÿ”ญ then youโ€™ll probably find me fishing ๐ŸŽฃ or gaming ๐ŸŽฎ

Iโ€™ve been fully absorbed in the land of #nostr and completely lost track of time, itโ€™s starting to get light outside, I should sleep!

GN folks! ๐Ÿซ‚

Zapr has served me well for the last few weeks but itโ€™s time to pull the plug on it now Iโ€™ve just come across this ๐Ÿคฉ

nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s is there a plan to see what scripts have been enabled/installed and maybe view the human readable script before enabling a #nostrscript? Iโ€™m certain you wouldnโ€™t have allowed the sandbox/runtime access to our nsecs but not knowing what a script is doing behind the scenes makes me a little nervous (I havenโ€™t had chance to view the changes on GitHub yet)

Brilliant job on this ๐Ÿ‘ nostr:note1gjd2str0tfqvrcwdttskxkd52vmsagc477gsr858k0ug86nuj60qzn6uas

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Thanks for the heads up, I missed the requirement to verify my email address on AWS Route53 so they suspended the domain until I completed that step.

Back up and running now.

You can Zap profiles on iOS but itโ€™s against their guidelines to Zap notes as they consider it tipping digital content.

You can use https://www.zapplepay.com/ if using Alby which once setup and linked to your wallet will turn your reactions into zaps.

https://www.zapr.social (I built and use) is an alternative which allows you to zap any amount without being bound by reactions or linked to your wallet in anyway. Zaps works with a number of wallets you have on your device.

The last few weeks have been very tough, I inherited a clients project that was long overdue and worked day and night for the last 3 weeks to get the features they wanted implemented and the project across the line. This has meant Iโ€™ve had no time, motivation or energy to work on my own Nostr side projects after work ๐Ÿฅบ

I managed to get this project completed yesterday with a release in their hands they can be happy with just in time for my birthday off today.

Iโ€™m now having a short break, heading out for food/drinks today and will be switching off from work for the next 3 days. Hopefully Monday comes and my mind and body will be in far better shape so that I feel up for working on my side projects in the evenings again.

Have a great weekend all ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿ’œ

Gotta say, I'm rather excited about this! nostr:note1uhplvuytlr3wus63eqwysqfst824sllh8uaq3glvg42lzkxg0p4qx5235v

Okay, the last one for today. My favourite, at least right now: https://Zapit.live

Zapit.live allows you to put any digital content, literally any, behind a lightning paywall. Users will only see the content when they pay the invoice.

I also made some significant updates on the backend today. It's 20x faster than yesterday, I mean it!

Brilliant, will this be open source?

PWA on iOS are so far behind Android, itโ€™s unbelievable.

Add to home-screen flow for a start, I actually wonder if the majority of iOS users even know it exists or is it just something developers know about ๐Ÿค” Android has the ability to check if the user has already โ€œinstalledโ€ the PWA and if not you can prompt them to do so without the awkward add to home-screen dance.

Once added to home-screen, clicking a link in any other application (notes/messages/email) iOS doesnโ€™t recognise you have added the site to the home-screen so it proceeds to open in the browser rather than full screen/standalone view you would get when opening the home-screen shortcut directly, I believe this is not the case on Android.

Final straw, turns out any Safari extensions a user may have enabled will not work when launching your site from a home-screen shortcut, making it impossible to use nostore in a PWA

My new signature #zap is 84 sats.

Hereโ€™s why:

84 is the two-digit abbreviation for 1984. Itโ€™s the year Apple under its founder Steve Jobs released the first Mac and started a revolution in personal computing. They celebrated this with a legendary Super Bowl ad created by the agency Chiat/Day and directed byย Ridley Scott. It directly referenced the George Orwell novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, depicting a dystopian future world where a totalitarian figure known as Big Brother has absolute power over the population, controlling their behavior and warping their sense of reality, and one person singlehandely challenging the status quo.

In the almost 40 years since and under new leadership, Apple has transformed itself into everything it originally stood against, and now holds innovators and digital pioneers hostage, extorts value from them, and actively stands in the path of the decentralized revolution they know is coming, are powerless to stop, yet hope they can delay because it threatens their power.

The other reason I chose 84 is because it is a multiple of 21, a reference to the maximum supply of 21 million bitcoin that will ever exist by the time the final block is mined more than a century from now. 4x21 also symbolizes the block halving, whereby the supply of new bitcoin is reduced by 50% every four years. The time between each halving is a period historically marked by a gradual rise then sudden explosion in both the fiat-denominated value of the asset and the attention it attracts, followed by an eventual and lengthy collapse of both. During these times, we are given the opportunity to build new technology, grow our community, and see who stays for the next cycle, and who only showed up for what they thought was easy money.

This time around, we built #nostr, allowing us to begin to unshackle ourselves from abusive relationships with all-seeing, controlling, and corrupt social media and technology giants, and to use #bitcoin as the built-in mechanism by which we reward our fellow users for the value of the content they share. We are not selling digital goods, as Apple says. We are sharing digital good. They donโ€™t understand this yet, and they may never, but in the end, it wonโ€™t matter, because in both nostr and bitcoin, weโ€™ve discovered something that canโ€™t be stopped, and will only become stronger as it is attacked. Apps will come and go, but protocols are here to say. I am confident that 116 years into the future, bitcoin will still exist, but Apple most likely will not.โ€จโ€จWe may have a long way to go to find the freedom we are seeking, but this is only the beginning. We are unstoppable.

โ€œWe know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it.โ€ โ€” George Orwell

โ€œThe people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.โ€ โ€” Steve Jobs

I went with 666

๐Ÿซ‚ no problem at all, happy zapping my friend!

First time using Zapr on tonightโ€™s #zapathon went smoother than I had imagined ๐Ÿค™

Iโ€™m looking for a swift/swiftui developer that would be willing to do a little pair coding one evening, imagine it may be about an hour or two tops (will pay sats for your time), anyone interested?

#Bluesky migrants #zapathon welcomes you!

I donโ€™t use Alby/NWC so I built an alternative to zapple pay which will work with WoS no problem
