What is happening in North Carolina is exactly what occurred recently in southern Brazil, where the state of Rio Grande do Sul was devastated by a severe weather event. Lives were lost, families left homeless, and cities remained flooded for days. And what did the government do? Practically nothing.

In contrast, the civilian population quickly mobilized, organizing resources through online groups to collect donations and send aid to the victims. Meanwhile, the government stayed idle.

This highlights why I believe many will eventually turn to libertarianism. The State, in theory, should exist to protect its people in times of crisis, coordinating efforts to provide support. Yet, once again, it failed.

The media remains silent, and few platforms like Nostr allow the truth to be shared. How can it be easier to send aid to a war-torn country halfway across the world than to provide timely, coordinated assistance to its own citizens?

Catastrophes will always happen, as will corrupt politicians. Let’s press on, my friends. Help the families in North Carolina, just as we did for those in Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil.
