Omnivore announced they were shutting down last October, but it wasn’t until this week I saw a group of Omnivore addresses subscribed to the Weekly Thing bounce. Seems they turned off the email addresses now. https://www.theverge.com/2024/10/29/24283055/one-of-my-favorite-read-later-apps-is-shutting-down https://weekly.thingelstad.com

Dave Winer today…

"Where AI fits in

The Beatles

Personal computers

The web

Napster

AI

It is interesting and I’ve made similar comparisons lately myself. It matters who your audience and point is for such a list. For technologists I keep saying it is like…

GUI

Internet

Cloud

Mobile

I think of those because they changed nearly everything about how technologists do their craft. And I believe AI is going to do that too.

It is of course bigger than all that, but that is a different audience. http://scripting.com/2025/05/22/214121.html

Robin decided that a nest would be great on top of our irrigation controller. Hmm… trying to leave this be until the eggs hatch. 😬

Getting the pool ready for summer!

It was awesome to see @davoh for a delicious coffee at Five Watt today! The conversation covered much ground and could have continued on if not for a lack of time. 🤝 https://micro.blog/davoh

I’ve never had an Apple TV require this Recovery Mode. It seems to be working fine to fix it.

We went to a live recording of The Object podcast at the MIA today. Dessa was the special guest discussing Salvador Dalí and the surrealists. She is always engaging and entertaining. https://new.artsmia.org/the-object-podcast https://new.artsmia.org https://www.dessawander.com https://new.artsmia.org/event/the-object-live-presented-by-ameriprise-financial

Manu recently added an RSS feed of new sites to Blogroll. I popped it into Feedbin to discover new blogs. I explored a few and was delighted at the diversity of sites these bloggers have. If there is an opposite of scrolling an algorithmic feed it is this. Let’s bring surfing the web back. 🏄 https://manuelmoreale.com https://blogroll.org https://feedbin.com

Thanks to the recent fix on micro.blog allowing blogs over 5G to export I got my first backup in 2 years and 4 months! My total backup is now 11.58 GB, and it seems in the last couple years I averaged 187.5 MB of additions a month. ☺️ https://news.micro.blog/2025/05/09/fixed-exporting-very-large-archives.html

Excited to see the United play today — and even more excited to see Messi! GOAT! ⚽️
