Early #bitcoin adopter, early #bitcoin spender. Studied #programming and #philosophy in college. Lover of #anime, #food, #books, and #tea.

Looks like I'm heading to China after this campaign. Can not wait, but also I still need to fill out so much and have so much ready for my visa before I can leave.

I will more than likely need a way to bypass the GFW.

I just use both Plex, Jellyfin, Nextcloud, and Audiobookshelf for my music, podcasts, movies, and show watching because sometimes it's just better depending on what I want to do with it and on what platform. Sometimes I just want to watch a movie I have on my server and I can share that easier with Nextcloud than Plex or Jellyfin. Music works better on Jellyfin than Plex I think, but audiobooks are on both my Jellyfin and Audiobookshelf. Plex seems to handle subtitles better than Jellyfin currently.

#retroshare is pretty cool for file sharing and forums, the design feels classic as well.

As a dude who works for Dems in three counties that get brought up about changing Texas to blue, it's crazy as Republicans are going against some degenerate nerd.

I don't know if #nostr would go mainstream anytime soon, it's too crypto and tied with #bitcoin

#nostr seems dead lol

I'm trying to go abroad to teach for a year or two. It'll be something to do in-between campaigns.

Still thinking of doing a career pivot soon

Chase Oliver seems like the best outcome coming out of the Libertarian Party, someone with real libertarian values.

Damn, Bad Boys: Ride or Die was good! The camera work as good!

I do this every year. I start keeping track of the books I read and I'm usually good for the first month or so and at some point I lose count and just stop tracking.

It's such a strange world we live where there are people alive that don't know how to make basic calls on a cellphone and there are people who only know have a smartphone as their do-it-all device.

My new HP Z840 Workstation that'll be my new homelab after replacing my aging i5-4570, 16GB desktop.

The new system is a 2x E5-2698 v3 2.3ghz 16-Core (each) 32-Cores (total) 256GB RAM 2TB SSD 13TB HDD

I do find it funny that I only learned about #Bitcoin so young because I was wondering how #LulzSec got donations.

It was strange to see a clearnet site with a donate section that was a BTC address at the time, let alone one for a hacking group.

It seems to me we might not be suited for constant communication or even the constant ability to communicate with everyone at anytime.

In the past, the norms around reaching out to someone were remarkably different, as not everyone was instantly connected. Communication often occurred through slower means such as in-person interactions or mail, where waiting weeks for a response was typical. There was a mutual understanding that individuals had their own lives and responsibilities, resulting in less immediate expectations for replies compared to today's instant communication culture.

Perhaps there's merit in revisiting or evolving our communication norms to reflect those values from the past. This could involve embracing a slower, more intentional approach to communication that values patience, presence, and deeper connections. By doing so, we may find greater fulfillment and meaning in our interactions, thus fostering more genuine and enriching relationships. I think direct intentional communication can create boundaries and have a more fulfilling life.

By embracing that slower, more intentional approach to communication, individuals may find greater satisfaction in their relationships and feel less pressure to keep up with a large network of contacts. This could involve setting boundaries around communication, prioritizing quality over quantity in relationships, and making concerted efforts to nurture deeper connections with those who matter most to us.

I've listened to many people give reasons to use #Nostr.

I think there is a clear divide however with what #nostriches deem as "value" and what value is. Value isn't simply zaps and money.

Value is also clout, a like, a follow, etc.

Actual good reasons of Nostr is the that in most instances it can't be shutdown easily and that your social graph can be moved around.

Maybe it's just me, but people are tired of paying for services, so why pay when liking a post or boosting it is free?

STOP SAYING THE ONLY VALUE WORTH ANYTHING IS ZAPS.

Finally getting around to connecting Kodi to my Jellyfin server

So #Nostr version of #Tiktok?

I'm not sure if that's a thing yet, I'm aware there is working being done for a #ActivityPub version.

#Mastodon

I'm rarely on here compared to Mastodon and Threads, and honestly I'm not entirely sure why that is.
