I learned from him that the wish to tell someone *absolutely* everything is both beautiful and ultimately utopian in a problematic way. We all have within us ambivalences, doubts, unfair thoughts that could cause irrevocable damage if shared. At least in love (of all forms) and relationships that matter to us, we wouldn’t want to rub the other person constantly up against the most troubling sides of our psyche, hence the need to edit. Not to be untruthful or deceitful, but to give the better gift of a thoughtful, lovingly edited version of our thoughts.
As wonderful as we might think it would be, “we should hope that we don’t meet the fullest version of each other all the time”. Caring about someone comes with the role of lightly editing ourselves out of love.
Now if you don’t care about the person or the relationship or being kind for the sake of being kind, might as well not spend your time there at all. 🤷🏻♀️

It would have been a lot less frustrating if I had had some dishwashing, table waiting or babysitting experience. 😅 The technical skills are only half of it.

My first job was Data Scientist and I learned that I should have taken on many various other jobs prior.
Isn’t it remarkable how many reminders we could use? You’d think that once we come across an idea and sit with it, that’s it – it’s learned. But we’re way too complex and messy for that, I suppose. Grateful for the reminders. 🙏🏻

We don’t need more, we just need to see more in what is already there.
Like Renaissance artists stared at a two lemons or a pear for hours noticing everything it could ever have to give, I’m working on cultivating my sense of awe, slowing down and learning to see things as though I had never layed eyes on them before.
We can add so much wonder and color to our life if we only let ourselves be amused in a slightly new way every time, by the things we’ve seen so many times we otherwise wouldn’t even notice.
Indulge in awe. ✨

I hear you. And it could be that they’re taking a small break to put some messages in bottles in case someone out there could use the insight or, better, to get calibration of those ideas from another mind.

You might think your actions and agency are too powerful for it to really matter, but you can only make so many conscious and intentional decisions every day, the rest of them are made by the parameters of your environment – the variables of the part of the universe that you live you life in.
Day after day, what your environment makes easy or hard shapes your life.
