This recent hype around quantum computing breaking Bitcoin's is pure mainstream FUD.
If quantum computers are able to break ANY traditional encryption - it's going to be the smallest of humanity's problems.
Bank accounts would go first - often with much weaker encryption and much higher capitalization.
Then all Gmail accounts, custodial services, all kinds of apps, SWIFT, VISA, Mastercard, ATMs, your browser history, nuclear facilities, presidents' Whatsapps, physical access gateways, airports, car and airplanes autopilots. The whole internet, basically.
A bit like the final 5 minutes of Fight Club.
And even if there is a viable threat for any of those, Bitcoin would react in kind - by implementing quantum-resistant encryption.
Bitcoin is software. Totally solvable. Even for old wallets made with outdated methods. Relax.

Was talking to a friend this summer about the US election. We said that because we don't live in America it's a one-issue decision. We would like to see the Republicans win because they have a clear and supportive plan for Bitcoin.
Friend went CRAZY.
Ranted about Project 2025 and said he couldn't see the the value in bitcoin. I explained the value. But he wasn't really listening and chimed back with his own investment, a "cutting-edge technology play."
Then he condescendingly said that if his investment comes in he'll look at allocating some profits to bitcoin.
Timeframe?
3-4 years.
I wonder if he's reading the news.

It highlights the importance of increasing the hashr ate, as it impacts the production cost of BTC, which in turn helps establish a price floor for Bitcoin. As shown in the chart, Bitcoin’s price is currently right at the production cost, so from this point, it can only go up.
