It appears that sentiment has shifted in lightning channel opens and we may have reached a local bottom in lightning capacity with new channel opens picking up.
Our goal is to help the lightning network become a high-performance, sustainable payment network. Due to the decentralized nature of lightning, this involves a lot of coordination. The best way to coordinate is to have good communication, which means collecting information and relaying it.
Right now, traditional payment systems have complete visibility into every payment. Lightning is fundamentally different and in many ways superior, except in payment reliability.
It's necessary for us to collect data to help with payment reliability and we do so exclusively on an opt-in basis.

We deeply valued the time you spent talking with us, which was a primary driver in developing the channel balance data deletion scheme.
We're obsessive about considering user feedback and I'm sorry that you felt we dismissed you. We didn't and used it to inform our backend development, specifically so that we can protect transaction-level privacy in the event of a subpoena.
Even if you built the feature you're proposing into Mutiny, we'd gladly supply you with information so that you can make better decisions about whom to connect to, or not, in this lightning network ecosystem.
