"Liquidity support purposes"

A la Tom Cruise in "A Few Good Men": "If the UST market is 'the deepest & most liquid market' in the world, then why would it need liquidity support?"

Treasury is thinking about issuing $1t in bills the next 6 months (provided debt ceiling resolution).

This can potentially drain the RRP and add lots of liquidity into the banking sector, if MMF are the marginal buyers (they have not been and may not be).

Targeting uses of energy rather than production is incoherent. This is a mess of an argument.

The U.S. Treasury updated their borrowing estimates.

They target over $1.4 trillion in net new borrowing during the two quarters from April through September 2023, with an ending cash balance target of $600 billion.

Tax receipts have been coming in below their expectations.

PMI bounced a bit in April, similar to what it did in February. Still contractionary but above expectations.

**Response to @LynAldenContact:**

Liquidity tends to precede PMIs a bit, and various measures of liquidity been turning up for a little while now.

However, the question is how debt ceiling, TGA refill, and ongoing QT will affect liquidity this year.

$C (https://nitter.moomoo.me/search?q=%23C) CEO, "The US financial system is extremely strong, there will be more consolidation in the US banking sector."

This is a probably polite way of saying more regional banks will have their assets gobbled up by the big players as they struggle to remain afloat.

Interesting thread about automating fee management for lightning nodes.

If it lowers the bar to running your own routing node, seems like a good idea.

Within the modern era, the hard part about making an internationally accepted currency has been establishing rule of law domestically, which means some degree of decentralization (the semi-separation of powers, above any individual), which gives that currency some global trust.
