Accept: all categories of financial investment issues, strategic decision-making, path planning, marketing planning, and various difficult consultations; A word of caution: please do not ignore my warnings and buy the speculative stocks I predict daily.

A couple of days ago, I suddenly had a flash of inspiration. Slot machines in casinos are not the same type of game as roulette or poker, which are house-take games that can be truly random and disordered. But slot machines definitely aren’t. All code programming is incapable of achieving true randomness, let alone the slot machines in casinos—there’s no way they’re truly random and disordered. Theoretically, as long as something isn’t truly random and disordered, there’s potential to crack it. The design logic of slot machines should be that after taking in a certain amount of money and reaching a certain frequency of plays, a payout is triggered. But it’s unclear whether all the slot machines in the casino are connected and calculated as a whole or if each one operates independently—this would require long-term observation to deduce. If each slot machine operates independently, the difficulty of cracking it would be much lower. But wait, why am I having these thoughts??? 😂😂😂It must be because I’ve been hanging around those gamblers too much lately.

Preliminary Solution to the Collective Action Dilemma

Preconditions of the Problem:

Boss A has increased the workload of all employees in the company, but their salaries have not been raised. At this point, there are a few undercover agents planted by the boss within the employee group. No employee dares to take the lead in demanding a salary increase because if someone does, the undercover agents will immediately report them to the boss, who will then dismiss the leading employee, preventing the formation of a collective effort. The employee who takes the lead suffers the most, as they get fired; the boss benefits the most, as the workload increases without any increase in salary; other employees experience a slight loss, as their salary remains unchanged, but their workload increases.

How should the leading employee navigate the situation with traitors present, in order to at least ensure that their current interests will not be significantly harmed and to negotiate for better benefits with the boss?

Solution:

Contact an external party who is not affiliated with the company. This external person should reach out to all employees in the company and organize an anonymous vote at a single location. The first step is to determine if the majority of employees agree on the need to fight for greater benefits from the boss. If less than 50% of the employees want to push for better benefits, the effort is abandoned, and the leading employee will have incurred the cost of hiring the external person, with no change to the boss’s or the other employees’ interests. However, if the anonymous vote results in a majority agreement, all employees will reveal their identities and begin the negotiation with the boss.

Essentially, what are the differences between ordinary people and elites, beyond explicit conditions like connections and resources? From my perspective, a significant distinction lies in their varying degrees of acuity towards people and situations.

I'll illustrate this with an example from my own observations. While waiting for food packaging with a friend at a restaurant, we were chatting near the entrance. The restaurant owner said, "Standing is tiring, why don't you go inside and wait?" I immediately grasped the underlying reason and intent: our presence was obstructing the restaurant's entrance. My friend, however, didn't perceive this and simply replied, "It's fine, we're not tired." Eventually, I had to guide my friend to another spot to continue waiting.

This leads to the conclusion that ordinary people tend to have a higher degree of insensitivity, while elites exhibit lower insensitivity. How can this conclusion be applied? Let's take an example: when marketing a product, the first step is to define the target audience – elite or ordinary. Given that ordinary people have higher insensitivity, more straightforward and direct guidance is needed to increase the likelihood of success. Therefore, advertising strategies should take this into account. This entire process involves observing, drawing conclusions, and applying those conclusions to practical situations.

In essence, the key difference, after excluding external factors like connections and resources, is the level of acuity towards people and circumstances.

I understand that many people's success relies on interpersonal relationships, but no great success can be achieved solely because of relationships. There is a concept here called Dunbar's number: 150. It means that a person can maintain good relationships with roughly 150 people at most. However, no great enterprise can achieve greatness solely by relying on the leader's 150 good relationships; it must gain the support of more strangers to become great. This requires the use of scientific management and operational models, scientific decision-making, scientific products, and so on. But the essence of science is knowledge. Therefore, those who achieve success solely through interpersonal relationships, if they disdain knowledge as a result, will never achieve great success.

A conclusion without evidence can be considered an unreliable lie. For example, if A tells B that C is a bad person, the correct approach for B should be to ask A for specific instances: when, where, and what bad things C has done. If A cannot provide concrete examples, it can be assumed that A is spreading an unreliable lie, rather than B subjectively joining A in condemning C. However, in real life, most people, due to a lack of logic and critical thinking, often subjectively join A in condemning C. (Of course, real-life situations are much more complex than this simplified example. The speaker usually describes many irrelevant incidents or uses interpersonal communication tactics such as trust, authority, etc., which can easily confuse the listener.)

Whether in Eastern or Western culture, the greatest philosophical ideas often converge. 2,600 years ago, the Chinese sage Confucius proposed a philosophical idea: "If you repay resentment with virtue, how will you repay virtue? Repay resentment with justice, and repay virtue with virtue." In Western game theory, it is also proposed that "tit for tat" is the optimal strategy in games.
