Can you own guns in Germany?

Yes, you can. Jäger = Hunters are allowed to own a gun. You need to be 18, pass an exam, practice and shoot. Authorities check your mental state though. Weapons must be securely locked away (e.g., in a gun cabinet with the appropriate security rating).

Ammunition must be stored separately from weapons.

The police may inspect storage facilities.
