So…I wrote a book! https://amzn.to/4dmnmtx

I couldn’t find a good intro to Bitcoin book that covered all the aspects I thought were important, so I wrote one.

I wrote this book for my mom to understand Bitcoin. I wrote this for all my friends whose eyes glaze over the moment Bitcoin is mentioned. I wrote this for everyone who has said, “But what if the government bans it?” or “Isn’t it just a Ponzi scheme?” or “Bitcoin is just too complicated for me.” I wrote this for all of them.

Hopefully this book can help orange pill that person in your life that hasn’t been able to connect or grasp the importance of Bitcoin. I kept the price as low as possible in hopes that it reaches all the people it’s meant to reach.

The paperback and kindle versions are available now. The hardcover should be out in a week or so. All versions are in full color. Please share and leave a review if you feel inclined. If you want to read it for free, shoot me a DM and I’ll send you a pdf.

I had the idea to write this book 30 days ago today. It's been a wild month.

I should read it and then maybe think to translate it in Italian for the many Italian people that are not very fluent in English… Unfortunately English is still a big barrier for a lot of people especially for topics they do not know!

Congrats, Erin! 🫂

E2EE DMs are coming to Nostr 🔒

After being nerd sniped by hearing nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8 mention OTR for the millionth time on the Bitcoin Review podcast, I spent the last few weeks digging into OTR, the Signal protocol, and a grab-bag of other cryptography.

The end result is that I (am pretty sure at least) that I found a way to do E2EE (end-to-end encrypted) DMs on Nostr in a way that is both forward and post-compromise secure AND doesn't require any centralized servers.

And finally, the NIP (for those of you with bikes in need of a shed): https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1206

Huge thanks to nostr:npub1klkk3vrzme455yh9rl2jshq7rc8dpegj3ndf82c3ks2sk40dxt7qulx3vt and nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft for the chats while I worked out the details.

I’ve been thinking about that for years… I also tried GrapheneOS in the past but never used as daily driver instead of my iPhone… iOS is probably the most secure mobile OS but unfortunately its privacy is dropping year after year at least against Apple…

9,5 su 10! E quando provi a spiegarglielo ti dicono che ci facciamo troppe seghe e che siamo paranoici… until it will be too late…

nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8 has thoughts. 😅

For me personally, after talking to LOTS of bitcoiners who are deeply technical and very committed to open source AND still will only use a Coldcard, I'm never going to use anything else.

Call it social heuristics if you want, but I guarantee that 99.9% of bitcoiners (me included) have no idea how complicated it is to keep keys properly secure. If "verifiable source" is the tradeoff required, so be it.

Totally agreed with you! Keys segregation and “almost trusted” hardware are a very complicated topics!
