nostr:npub15xw7fn6n305n3psqkd067x952ywhprdc62xx06485z82rn7kyu6s7r9rkt i sort of have issues with with your second option. As far as them ex Soviet operatives like Putin go, it's not weak nor desperate at all. The way they see it (if that's what happened), they're sending a message that if you go against the head honcho or you even appear to do that, you will be taken out no matter the cost. You can't hide behind bystanders, everyone knows that hanging out with you is risky business and all that jazz. That's how they operate.

On this day (August 24)

76 - Mount Vesuvius destroying Pompeii and Herculaneum.

410 - Alaric, chief of the Visigoths, led an army into Rome, an event that symbolizes the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

1949 - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) entered into force, following the signing of its treaty four months earlier. Happy birthday, I suppose.

The rest is boring shit

And it might have economic potential nowadays too. If you were to put it up on Kickstarter..... I mean, it's not like they're a shortage of what you'd diplomatically call "simple folk".... 🤣

<<99 percent of Earth's gold is in its core>>

Holy shit. What a brilliant insight! It's almost as if dense stuff had a tendency to sink below less dense stuff.

They should come up with a name for that bizarre phenomenon and claim their well deserved Nobel prize. I'm thinking gravity has a nice ring to it 🤣

That's what my wife smokes these days. She figured that she can live with the risk of erectile dysfunction. Good thinking! Guess I'll start buying those with miscarriages 🤣

nostr:npub1j8ueyfkfuud4fzn80l27a8tk6f3ueug6awsxumwd4wkvax7hkvjsshaz5s well, I don't know how that works in the case of industrial scale farms, they're probably getting a ton of cash, but when it comes to a little guy who keeps like 10 cows or plants half a hectare of tomatoes, which are the kind of people I have contact with, they're really getting jack squat here in Italy.

And the funny thing is that some 20 years ago majority of EU subsidies for agriculture that Poland was getting were payments to farmers for NOT planting on their land.

nostr:npub1j8ueyfkfuud4fzn80l27a8tk6f3ueug6awsxumwd4wkvax7hkvjsshaz5s maybe it changed since then, but somehow I doubt that

nostr:npub16rsfuhv9vvn39cmrdg9s9qcq20lfqp4u8w35f8svm30dny345d7qhc2zfj the irony is that I only know the Swiss system. And that is

- direct payments, bound to specific services

- no Diesel tax, its distribution partly a defense infrastructure

- no high powered vehicle tax

- state buys wheat and spelt and resells for a fixed price

- big milk processors pay less taxes

- small milk processors receive cost covering subsidies

- EU cohesion Billions tied to agri exports (a reverse subsidy)

ITA, France, NL, ESP and Poland recieve dozens of Agri-billions.

The West African regional bloc ECOWAS says it has chosen an undisclosed “D-Day” for a possible military intervention to restore Niger’s democratically elected president following last month’s coup.

Getting more interesting 🤔

Isn't it amazing how surgical sterilization of the mentally defective became trendy once more when they started calling it gender affirming care? If only they thought of that in The Third Reich.... 🤣
