Decided to try out the euro withdrawal in bottlepay. It works! Instant transfer to revolut. You have to trade sats for euro with a 1% fee on bottlepay and then withdraw the euro balance.

I've wanted a Canon 5D Mark IV for years now, I could never afford it.

I designed these. Do these make sense as indicators of a wallet's features?

The guide is here for now, I'll look at it again later loveisbitcoin.com/wallets

I need to buy Scrivener 3 and I've been postponing it for years. It's a great writing software that fits how my mind works. I've written pretty much everything on it.

Happy Birthday Satoshi!

Our Athens Bitdevs meetup is getting technical with a thorough discussion on Taproot lead by @GeorgeTsag

ChatGPT-4 is still very dumb in Greek.

The three act structure should be taught in schools with as much importance as multiplication and division. It's no wonder Aristotle tried to explain it. Our brains work with storytelling, it's how we form new neural pathways. We're all stories in the end.

The silence from big name accounts on bitcoin nostr about my orange pilling guide is deafening. https://georgesaoulidis.com/how-to-orange-pill-people/

Nobody's a Prophet in Their Own Land

You might have been trying to orange-pill family and friends for literal years now. Don’t be disappointed. Your approach might not have anything to do with it. You’re not doing anything wrong, and they’re not stupid not to listen to you.

It’s just that sometimes, we don’t take seriously people we know well.

Just focus on getting some other material to them, books, videos, documentaries that we’ve already discussed, and also try to bring some other bitcoiner to talk to them.

It might drive you nuts to see that the other bitcoiner might tell them exactly the same, and your friends and family will turn around to you and tell you, “Well, why haven’t you told me this already? I could have been buying bitcoin all this time.”

And you’ll just explode out of frustration, saying that you’ve been telling them the same things over and over again.

It happens. Nobody’s a prophet in their own land. Sometimes, an air of mystique is necessary. Sometimes, we need another expert, mentor, or speaker to say the same things people close to us have been telling us for years in order to get it.

The prime example is that of making your bed each day. Your mom has been telling you to do that ever since you were little. It just helps with feeling well, makes the room seem tidy, helps you with discipline. It’s such a simple yet effective trick. We’re forced to do it in the army, but that’s extreme so you push back on it and never actually do it unless forced to.

And then comes Jordan Peterson saying, “make your bed,” and you treat it as if it’s the biggest lifehack of all time.

Think how your mom feels about that.

The same goes for you trying to orange-pill family and friends. Just bring someone else over to help.

I'm doing so many projects in parallel right now that I physically sigh in relief every time I close a tab group in chrome.

How Much Should You Donate?

Sats are money. It’s okay to give some every now and then, but soon enough you will find your wallet empty.

So, how many sats should you donate?

I’ve seen some videos where they donate up to 60 british pounds to strangers on the street. I get that it’s for the shock value to make the video attractive but don’t do that.

Honestly, any amount should be okay. Stick to four digits in sats. At the time of writing this, that’s just a few cents. If you give any precoiner 1000 sats, that big round number will stick in their minds as being a lot.

It’s a negligible amount to give out and it feels important.

There are exceptions. For example, I wanted to demonstrate to a businessman how he could simply use Breez as a POS to accept lightning payments in his business. I know Breez eats up a small amount to open channels, so I sent him 6000 sats instead.

Always expect those sats to be lost. Most of the times, they’ll simply get forgotten in a custodial wallet, and that’s fine.

That’s why I insist on not giving out too much, even if you can afford it. Give them a taste, they can get their fill on their own.

Figure out what amount you’re comfortable with giving out and just have a lightning wallet handy.

I have too much stuff going on these days. I finished a short story, 7000 words today. Wrote 5k all day. Now I have to learn a speech, write another one, study some homework for bitdevs... All the while running my businesses.

I was supposed to be writing my short story today, not sculpting skulls. 💀

Oh well...

Who want's a Skull of Satoshi 3D print?
