not quite sure everyone understood the question i asked earlier about Nostr relays, because i WASN'T describing a scenario with no relay overlap.

rather, the scenario i was asking about was this:

John: i made a post. i talk to relays A and B.

Pete: i'm sharing John's post,. i talk to relays A, B and C.

Charles: i talk to relay C only. can i see John's post, since Pete is sharing it?

Yes that's how it works. When you repost a note you're publishing it to all the relays that you write to. It extends the reach of the note.

given how terse the nostr spec is (one character keys, etc) it's counterproductive for it to then use a bloated, space-inefficient interchange format. It's a very odd design choice

JSON is not space efficient or particularly efficient to parse so there are more stability issues compared to other formats. Since it's a text-only format there is also no efficient way to include binary data which makes it problematic to allow file attachments or anything in notes

Also your online presence is different than your real life personality. Obviously my Nostr online presence is based around Bitcoin. In real life I never talk about Bitcoin with my friends, family or co workers. I’m not one of those dudes who “orange pills” people I just like to leave it to them to find out for themselves.
