Just sitting here, dumbstruck at how almost half the country thinks trans and gay people are the problem, and not the fact that temperature records are being smashed on a daily basis with increases in the number of and severity of wildfires and other natural disasters. I did not want to be a character in "Don't Look Up" but here we are.
All I can say is, vote blue. Every damn time, whether it's a primary or a general election or a special election. #climatechange

Appreciate the replies earlier about the squash vine and whether to remove some leaves or not. Decided to keep the leaves on and not risk exposing the vine to pathogens. We took the netting off so it can sprawl as it pleases. It's in partial shade but still has quite a few flowers developing anyway. Looking forward to seeing what exactly it is!

nostr:npub147cs3tl7d2e9uhzns8wyreacdh8sw25092jjf5ka4uycvr2rqhnsu527uk I'm not sure you need to remove any leaves, but it would probably do better without that fencing around it. They like to run out in all directions. π

Question for #gardening Mastodon. My mom planted what she thought was zucchini or yellow squash but itβs turned out to be pumpkin or winter squash. Should she remove any of the leaves to improve air flow and let more sun in? #growyourown

Went to three different nurseries today trying to find a particular variety of Caryopteris but came up empty. Two were pretty close to cleaned out of perennials (understandable given that it's mid-July). But did pick up some swamp milkweed at one of them (Asclepias incarnata) so not a total bust! The nursery I work at unfortunately is closed on weekends until September so I only have like 30 minutes to shop after I get off work before they close, which for me isn't nearly enough time to decide!
